Hoosierpoet: is this your '61 Airflyte? If yes, I'm back to confused again. Just yesterday, while perusing the old ad and brochure folders, I convinced myself what I had was a 1500 vice an Airflyte. I saw an old ad for the 1500 and two ads for the Airflyte. The Airflyte ads showenecessarilymy trailer and one not which added to the confusion but I settled on the 1500 mostly due to the shape, front window, side vent placement, and interior layout. Now, when I look at your pictures I see my trailer but in much better and prettier condition! Or so I think. There are some differences such as the vents but the front window is the same as is the style. I really do need to find a computer vice my iPad to post pictures so that you much wiser than me folks will have a better idea of what you're helping me with! In the meantime, thank you for posting the pics of the rock guard. I'm thinking the concept is the same no matter which trailer it's on. Maybe? Aloha! Yes, that's our Daisy Mae! She's a work-in-progress, have made all the structural repairs (partial skin-off) but were lucky enough to find a '61 with only minimal rot and still almost totally original inside. So we will finish the cosmetics bit by bit, as time and finances allow. The vents aren't an indicator of model, necessarily; ours originally had a gas fridge on the curb side, so it had the vents that you see for that reason. The same model with an icebox wouldn't have had them. She has a dinette across the front, gaucho bed across the back, closets and icebox (and furnace) on the curb side, and kitchen (stove, sink, cabinets) on the street side. I will try to get some close-up photos of the rock guard setup tomorrow...

That's it. I have to get pics posted so I know where to go with things as they come up before my Handy-Andy-Dandy-Man makes decisions/changes before I figure it out and then have to have him do it over! This one has the dinette across the front, bed in the back (don't know what a Goucho bed is... yet), ice box and closet on the door side, stove/sink on opposite. As to the rock guard, looks like I should get basics down first. I now have a list of ideas for it though when that time comes. Thank you!

No matter what kind or rock guard you go with, you can always make a fabric cover that matches the awning to go over it. This is Cindy Ross' Aljoa at Newport Dunes two years ago.

Can't believe they are that rare! It has a little rust, and one tiny hole in the fiberglass, otherwise it just needs "cosmetic adjustment." Still very serviceable, after 52+ years...

A goucho bed is basicly a sofa that slides out making a bed and the cushions, both seat and back lay down to form the mattress.

And when I sleep on one I just use a sleeping bag because making up the goucho bed and putting all that stuff away and then getting it back out again is a pain.

Thank you for the explanation. I'll get all these terms down yet. I don't recall mine actually sliding out at all. Pretty sure not. One solid piece covering the baggage area holding the spare tire and water tank. As a matter of fact my Handy-Andy-Dandy-Man and I keep discussing my desire to have the top of that hinged for easier access to the spare and water tank. He rebuilt it due to rot but sealed it all around after ensuring the water tank was ready to go with new lines and a drain should it leak. Claims it's easy to cut the seal if needed and fits better with the new birch interior along the back wall. I don't recall any bed extension if you will.
With that said, I believe the upper half shelf was originally a bunk that would have had a slide out to it and the back cushion from the bed beneath would/could have been used as the mattress for it. Again, still trying to figure out what was what originally. I'll get there.
My apologies for being off topic too. Oops!

I was recently offered a Travelmaster, year unknown, for free if I'd take it off the property. Seems the "giver" found it off in the woods after having bought the 120 acres surrounding it. He doesn't have the title and has no interest in finding one or anything else. If I don't take it he'll "push it off the back of the mountain". (Which I'm not sure but may be my property!) It's been sitting quite some time since the tires are pretty much buried halfway up and the plate registration shows '79. Anyway, while inspecting it (vent cover busted, ceiling coming down by vent, lots of mice nests, acorns filling the bottom of the icebox/fridge, something scurrying about while I searched, etc) I stepped on something that didn't sound like wood, leaves, roots, or snakes -- the Rock Guard! He looked at it, said "huh... you want it?" "Why yes, I do." No, it does not fit my Shasta but hey, a slightly busted up rock guard is good for something or someone, right? As soon as I can ever get Photobucket to work I'll post pictures of this unknown trailer in the appropriate folder for everyone's input. I did tell him I had research to do first. He's happy just knowing it MAY move out.

Aloha! Speaking of Rock Guards, might you know where I could find one for a 1964 Shasta Airflyte? That's if they actually came with them to begin with. I'm still trying to ascertain exactly what I have and what it originally looked like inside and out. Seems there were some modifications to this one along the way. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Aloha!

I'm not familiar with rock guards, but in the picture that someone previously posted it looked much like the inexpensive corrugated fiberglass roof panels used on metal building roofs which allow some like to pass. if thats the case a metal building supplier would have these in stock.

Here is one of my favorites, custom made by the owner of an airstream. Photo from Tin-Pickle Adventures Blog by Barbie Paulsen.
