Hello everyone. I would like to thank everyone who has posted on this site. There is so much knowledge here, I appreciate everyone who is spending the time to help educate us 'newbies' thinking of getting into it.
I live in Phx, AZ. I have been wanting a trailer for a couple years, and have just begun seriously searching. One of my customers is restoring a shasta (his 2nd), so he has been a great person to lean on, but the more knowledge the better. I have seen some real junkers out here, especially in my budget (under 2k). However, I think I have found one worth taking a third and 4th look at. A 1957 pathfinder. Does anyone have any thoughts? I dont see a ton of info out there on them. I have not gone through the thing to extensively yet, but so far I am positive. I am mainly wondering about the brand, can anyone advise me on these trailers?

I know that is not in great shape, but for 1200 (or 1000 if negotiations go my way), it seems fair. However, I am basing that on very little beyond a quick look and a lot of research. |

Your link works just fine. I like it. Is it worth it? I can't say. I guess that depends on how bad you want it and if you realize how much work it needs. Did the PO do some work on the inside? It's a very good year  What is this? The bed? Does it have a stove and/or icebox?  |

[br Its not so much that I want it really bad, I just havent seen anything but junk lately, unless I want to spend 3-4k, and then they seem mostly overpriced. I do not mind putting in work. I can paint, sand, woodwork (to a small degree), etc. I just do not have the experience of having seen many many trailers and beimg able to sniff out a lemon beyond reasonable repair. I can afford 1200, but only if the trailer can be fixed! I do not want to be delusional, I know 'you get what you pay for' is usually true |

SusieQ I get an error message when I try to open the livnk. Sadly it is missing the ice box and stove. I am guessing It was removed because those are valuable/hard to find? Sink is there, paneling and plywood all sturdy for most part. Door is rusty, windows for sure need resealing. |

And no, ice box and stove are gone:( . Missing at least, I didnt ask the owner if he was storing them somewhere else, but I assume they are gone |

Got the link to open site must must have been down earlier. Th trailer don't look to bad but it does need some work. Is the front damaged or is it buckling because of framing rot or am I miss reading the picture? The sides look straight. I think from the prices that I have seen lately a grand would not be out of line. Have you watched mobiltec's videos to see what you can find when buying and old trailer? Seeing how to repair them allows you a better idea of what to look for when buying a trailer. Some look great and are a total rebuild and some like awful but are an easy fix. Look for things like deteriorating paneling inside and buckles or dents on the outside that don't show signs of impact. These are some of the easiest clues to look for.

Have you looked at the Aristocrat listed on craigslist located in downtown Phoenix? It is 100% complete and ready to camp. It has clear title, new tires, new jack, and the asking price is $1200. I would think this is a better buy then what you are looking at. I don't think this will last long.

My wife andi are just looking for a different, more rounded shape. Canned ham as they say. After listening to all the advice on this forum, I have determined the pathfinder is probably too questionable for my first purchase. It is also missing the stove/ice box, and has some body damage. I know I will never find a perfect trailer at the my budget, but I know what my skill level is, and i better make certain I purchase within my capabilities. |

Just thinking the Aristocrat might be a good fit for your first time out since it's complete and could be used this year to rally in and spruce up a bit while searching for your dream ham. Besides, 1970 is now considered vintage and will go up in value, while you enjoy the hobby. Many of us have more then one trailer and are always looking for just that one special make and model. It is an incurable disease, and there is no known cure. You could learn the basics and cut your teeth on this trailer and have lots of fun this season. Go to Arizona Roundup for this years rallys in Arizona.
