Hi all,
I purchased my 57 shasta special 1400 2 days ago. I've searched all over the Internet but I could not find another model just like it. The window setup is a little different. This beauty only had one owner and never been touched. Just sat in a field for better half of its life. It days special on the side. Please help me find more information.

Never once seen this window configuration. Or the stove top without oven and smaller ice box. It has original mattress, cot and upholstery on the seats, all in great condition. The electrical works and all lamps not broken, even the lantern style one. Has a little bit of water damage. But nothing crazy. Just would like more info. Was it a custom order etc... thanks everyone! Off to a new years party. Can't wait to see the posts tomorrow. -scott

You really have a great camper. I love the shape. The set up does seem different. People here know more about Shasta models than me and I'm sure they'll have the answer.
Are you sure it's a 57 and not a little earlier?

Great Trailer. I'm guessing 56?? Have you found the VIN yet?

At the dmv it comes up as a 57. It says 57 on the mattress. Only one owner until now. I'll take more pics of the cabinets. Etc. I found the vin number also. Starts with a c and is 4 digits. Any more information would be helpful. I'm so curious about the layout. If you want any other pics that may help just ask. Thanks again everyone

It's not unusual to have a body style a year earlier than the the year it is titled. I have a teardrop that has the year on the plate on the frame but the title is a year later. Insurance adjuster told me that was not uncommon. It could have been produced at the end of 56 and not completed or sold until 57.

Ross will be able to tell you about the VIN if you include at least two of the four digits: The # sequence corresponds to when it was made...
In the Shasta VIN section, we have a 55 Shasta #C 3713. Ross listed it as born in '54, probably late '54...
Another 55: C 43**, Two 56s: C57** and C61**
Butch and Sundance, twin 57s: C 7866 and C 7770; another 57 C 84** I'm guessing a 57 would be in the 7000 to 8000 sequence.
Keep in mind that some of our trailers were made earlier than the title says. A PO could have made an error or the DMV...
Love your little Shasta!!
