I have always wanted a rear door Scotty. But that is a "want" in the past. Now I want a copy of your copy! Probably actually cooler than the original!

Got a lot done today. Door sealed and latch installed and adjusted. All skins and trim on except for bottom trim. Windows in and sealed. They are not what I wanted but they will do...sliders instead of tilt outs.but the size and shape is close. Add a couple of eyebrows and most will never know the diff. Storage door in, but need to re-skin with the polished aluminum. Need to decide on a paint color for the sides. Once a color is on, have a newer lp tank to paint in like fashion. link

Love your Rear-Door Camperdude! I built my own a couple of years ago and still finishing up a few odds and ends. If I was computer literate, I would post a pic - otherwise you can see it on my FB page: search "John Valentine Silver". I framed mine in 1" square steel tube and used foam board between frame members to insulate. Inside skinned with 1/8" mahogany plywood (they call it "fish house skin" up here in the North!) and .045 aluminum on the outside. Built to the dimensions on the web.

Welcome to the board johnvsilver!!
So we have two members here who built 59 Scotty rear door clones? How cool is that? Where are you guys sourcing your new windows? They look quite good on a vintage trailer. I just picked up what I believe is a late 50's or early 60's Yellowstone that, if Wayne doesn't want it, I want to rebuild with all new components.

RinTin - my windows were NOS found on ebay - they're larger than the originals but I kinda like them -- they make the cabin less clostrophbic. I used the same size on the sides and the front and the door has a similar window that slides up and down - originals did not have an opening window in the door.
