Finally got pretty much finished with the underside fix er up mission. Decided to "not" undercoat the entire underside. I kept hearing a voice in my ear "the wood needs to breath, the wood needs to breath" I didn't leave the wood completely natural (sanded it down as much as humanly possible, and put a light coat of stain/sealer on it...just thought it would preserve the old wood a bit longer). I used enough paint masking tape to paint a house to keep from overspraying the undercoating onto the wood and coated the wheel wells, metal frame, outriggers, and bumper/tongue mounting crossbars. Didn't come out too bad. Oh, the new 3M paint respirator worked great and that's a good thing cuz that spray undercoating is some toxic stuff . On to running the wire and J box installation next, woo hoo! Was getting tired of this last mission, my least favorite to date. Thanks for looking.

Guess what I'm getting ready to do this weekend? Woo hoo, gonna light some things up! Made a trip to Home Depot at lunchtime today and picked up a few items for the next mission. Will start and hopefully finish on Saturday. Sunday is homemade chili, cornbread, and the Seahawks kicking some New England Cheaters (I meant Patriots) butt

Wow, looks like you got enough to do THREE trailers... LOL. I know, went a bit overboard on the quantity of supplies needed but extra will be put on the shelf for the Big Ham project (coming soon to a VTT thread near you) Order of work starting tonight (I stay focused and seem to get more accomplished if I have a stubby pencil plan): 1. Complete re-wiring and J box (Dot came home with four tail lights. Two newer 1/2 way up her back and two original lower on her back. The originals are trashed and haven't worked for some time. I'm gonna use the original globes and with a bit of modification, attach them to the newer working plates). 2. Insulate rear after all wiring complete. 3. Start cleaning up skin edges and get em back on probably in this order: a. drop the top back on, mark the top vent hole, lift the top back up, build the vent frame using water damaged frame as a template, cut vent hole/install frame work, and drop/attach top skin. Will probably install old vent at this time. b. install rest of skins working from top to bottom after I've cleaned up the edges/JBW any small rips in the edge metal. 4. On to the inside after skins have been put back on. That's gonna be bit of work (grin). 5. Once inside is close to done, I'll contact my paint guy set a date to get Dot in for her new colors. 6. Back home for cleaned up J rail install, windows, door (not sure if I should install door/screen door prior to taking in for paint..hmmm), install logos, final light install (..hmm, guess I'll have to at least have the TL's on prior to rolling to paint). 7. Take Dot for her 2015 maiden camping voyage. That's my plan to deviate from as of today in a nutshell. Fun stuff!

Got a bit of the wiring mission done last night and today (actually quite a bit for this rookie). Got the J box in, wired the front marker lights and inside DC solo light, ran the main ground, and ran the wires to the brakes (although the brake wires are just a hanging, poking out of the sheath, and need connecting) and on to the rear. Tried to put everying in plastic sheaths. Tomorrow's a day off (Go Hawks!) but will try to finish the mission on Monday (have the day off). Thanks for looking

Thanks VK. I owe you big time for your wiring mission guidance I'll continue this phase by ensuring all the marker lights are "well" grounded confirm mission success with connecting all the lights for a final test before I get busy on cleaning up/re-installing the skins.

WoW RJ, I've just got a gander at your thread here.. Clean work.. Very squared away.. Carry on. Thank you sir... Really learning a lot as I go. Gotta say, without the fine folks on this forum (SQ, John Palmer, bigbill, ten, vikx, and of course the man, the myth, the legend... the one and only mobiltec ), I'd probably be bald from scratching my head trying to figure things out.

Checked all the wiring with a light on the top front/top rear marker circuits and the main RT/LT/brakes this morning before I moved on to the punching a hole in the new ceiling panel for the vent. Lights all worked! Holy heck, I did something right, lol (thanks to the wire master, VK's assistance). Just finished putting a few pieces of insulation on top after I got the hole cut for the vent and built the vent frame. All seems to line up OK. Thanks for looking.
Oh, put the cabinet back in (right inside the door, up to the left) so I could try to finish the roof today. You can see the little circles where I marked the original nail holes. Used galvanized screws though. A cabinet needs some support after all, grin.

Thanks mobiltec (that means a lot coming from you sir). Well, I finished the roof insulation but "not before" I ran wires for a future fantastic fan. Chatting back and forth with Vikx, I was reminded to run wires even though I was putting the original vent back in (he's like my trailer repair shoulder angel, keeping me straight on important things) . ;)Came out pretty decent.. Almost ready to start with the skins Fun stuff for sure. Thanks for looking.

Your vent is pretty dang close to the side but I think I would still put a small crown over the hole. Maybe 1/4 inch thick plywood crown... That will give it a little slope so water doesn't puddle around the vent. Then be especially careful when putting the roof on and folding over the metal. Might want to tack the fold over metal near the vent before you get there with the rest. That's how to avoid buckling. Vikx? what say you?
