I learned something today and tried it out and it worked like a charm. If you are going to cut metal siding using a router, just go to the hardware store and pick up a wax ring for a toilet. It's made of bees wax and if you spread it on the bit it works great as a lubricant and the bit does not cake up with metal. The bit is just like new when you are done. I cake on the bees wax for every opening. Of course I will do a video on the subject.

Mobiltec if you stay at this long enough you are going to start making people think you are smart. That sounds like a really good idea and the bees wax seal material is softer than regular beeswax so it probably works better. Excellent tip.

I still think I can do cut out's with snips almost as fast, "as the time it takes" to try and clean up all of the aluminum router chips left in the driveway. My wife yells at me every time I track the "silver chips" into the house, LOL.
At the very least with a router, you will end up with nicer cutouts to re-use.

John I don't think it matters, I think my wife just likes to yell about tracking anything in the house. You would think it was hers.

Great info on bits. Thanks.
The shavings all over the driveway wouldn't go over well with my wife. Hadn't thought of that.

New tip for routing metal easily. I bought a variable speed plunge router from Harbor Freight and it works great on metal using a much slower speed. I use it on about the number 3 setting. Works much better because it doesn't heat up the metal and cause the bit to clog up.
