Hi All;
Very excited to find this site, and the wealth of knowledge and spirit of helpfulness!
Just picked up my 16" Golden Falcon 4 weeks ago. Been looking for a while, and had fond (strong!) memories of a Sprite I grew up with, so clear ideas of what I was looking for...
Very lucky - has the layout I wanted, and all fixtures and fittings intact. All appliances in full working order and well maintained. Skin is in good shape too. Definite water damage (took down the ceiling 2 weeks ago - the insulation must have held 100lb of water!), though so far, far less rot than I was expecting...
The challenge.... Have to work from the inside, as I have no place to shelter it, limited access to power, and, I'll be living in it while I work on it every second weekend! :-)
So much fun!
I'll post some pics as soon as I can.

Glad you made it here! Wow, that will be a real challenge living it in while you restore it. I look forward to seeing your pics. We all love pics! Read the photo tutorial thread if you need help posting pics!

Thanks for the heads up, ladywendolyn!
I went and took a look, and was completely startled - identical on the outside, as far as I can see!
I see you have a Glendale, too. Very cool.
Now I really have get my pics up....

Hey reddog! How cool is that trailer! Mine's a '69 and yes the out side is pretty much the same as yours only more banged up. Inside the cushions cabinets hardware etc. are the same. My trailer is a bit smaller so the closet and kitchen are reversed and I've no toilet. Other than that they could be big and little siblings. Looking forward to seeing what you do!

Thanks, gfgirl!
Looking forward to seeing what you do, too. I've already starting taking it apart (oh so tedious and time consuming, disassembling from the inside...). I was surprised to find on the inside that it seems to be a variation on platform frame construction, and very strongly built compared to what I understand the usual to be (1.5" wall cavity, regular use of nominal 2x2s, and occasional 2x4s for reinforcing (even a 2x6 across the boot). I'm curious to see how similar yours might be on the inside!

reddog, like you I do not have a shelter, yet. I may build a garage/shop just for my project. Anyway, nice camper. Godspeed.

Thanks, ny63!
That's a beautiful looking caravan you've got there!
No plans for a shelter for me... In fact, in about 6 weeks, I'll be moving it out into an empty field for the summer.... Any work I do on it will be done while boondocking, til I bring it back in late September....
I'm working on a piece of land I plan to build on in about 4 years - I got the trailer 'cus I was finding the ground hard after a long day's work.... The caravan will be luxury after the tent... Even half torn out and a work in progress itself!
Once the caravan has been rehab'ed, I'm hoping to travel with it, too, but still 99% boondocking.

I'm also working on another project; a 110 year old house. Complete renovation I started about seven years ago. Taking a long time due to life changes and budget (no financing of anything).
Well, good luck with the camper. I look forward to seeing it later this year.

I'll be putting up a thread...
Just keep forgetting to take pics. Lots of measured drawings and sketches though!
Life changes are like that. Sweet about the house! Good luck with it - I've been there.

Hey reddog, If you get a chance can you take a few pics of your front window rock guard? Specificity construction of framing and arms. Mine is long gone and I think unlikely I'll find a replacement. One more thing to fabricate. I'd like to make it as close to original as possible so photos would really help, thanks in advance!

Hey gfgirl;
I'm missing the arms that support it (on my VTS wish list...), but I'll get you full details on the rest of construction when I'm back out there (next weekend). I'll also let you know how the VTS ones work out once they're in.
My fiberglass is a bit worn, and I'm wondering if it too used to be gold, gold, gold, rather than the dull cream it is now.... Wouldn't that be flashy! ;-)

Awesome! Thanks Lady Wendolyn and reddog! Between the three of us we should manage to figure out how most things used to be.
Also yes reddog, I would be almost certain it was at one time a delightful shade of GOLD!!
