Hello, I am Greg Rogers. I have purchased what I believe is a Easy Travler 13 ft. I got no title or registration ( which may be a big mistake) I have purchased utility trailers which were no problem to get a registration for but the Michigan Secretary of State is being fussy about this as it is a travel trailer. Anyway, I am looking for any info you guys may have. I have not been able to find a VIN on it yet. Well thanks for having me, I am looking forward to hanging out and learning from you guys and gals! Greg. Oh I am trying to insert a pic of it, how do you do that? Thanks again.

Hello and Welcome Greg, Here is how to post pix to the forum. You will need a Flickr account. Here’s how: vintagetrailertalk.freeforums.net/thread/7276/add-photos-hosted-flickr-tutoria You can post links, too, but it’s just nicer if the pix are posted in the thread. For info on Easy Traveler, you can find information on the TCT or Tin Can Tourist site. Easy Traveler isn’t a well known brand, but pix will help to narrow down the date range of manufacture. Body design, windows and even marker lights can help once viewed. The VIN should be on the tongue of the trailer somewhere. This thread provides some good information on this. vintagetrailertalk.freeforums.net/thread/829/specific-location-vin-number#:~:text=Usually%20found%20near%20the%20top,8%20of%20an%20inch%20high. It’s based on a Shasta, but the locations are pretty much the same for most vintage trailers. BTW, vintage trailers had a serial number not a VIN. It’s common place for most people (including me until I was corrected) to call this number the VIN, but it’s really a serial number. But we know what you mean. We will look forward to seeing your trailer. Cheers, Rod

Thanks Rod, I did find a stamped # on the coupler-(not the # of the patient, etc) it is 299- that's all... I saw a fella on this site who is restoring a 1958 Easy Travler, which looks like mine. I think he hasn't posted since 2021. I would like to PM him- What I am hoping to see is a format of another Easy Travler serial #- I have heard the # starts with ESTRA-ES=Easy, TRA=Traveler... Then most other serial #'s for other brands might have a 13(13ft), and 57(for 1957) So maybe ESTRA1357299??? Thanks again. I am hoping to hear from someone who has a Easy Travler of those years. Also I have looked on Tin Can Trailers and got some info from them- actually there is a trailer on there that looks just like mine. Ok I'll try to figure out posting some pics..

Hi again guys and gals. I finally did get a title for my trailer. All I needed was to find some helpful people. The whole story is a long one... I first stopped in to a Sec of State office in Clare, Mi just to gather info. I told the woman there I bought a old trailer from a friend who had bought it off a estate of a deciesed man. She started in on how I would need a signed statement from the dead guys estate, etc. I don't even know who the guy was- my friend bought it off the family and didn't get any papers from them... Anyway by time I left the office I felt almost like I was being accused of stealing the thing! Next I went to a guy who has restored 50 of so vintage trailers in Gladwin, Mi. to get his advice. He said go to the SOS office in Gladwin, which I did. I talked to the mgr who was very friendly and helpful. She told me to call the county police dept. and have a officer come over and inspect it and sign a form she gave me to verify that is his opinion it wasn't stolen. The county officer came and would not sign the form as he wasn't familiar with doing this- I understood. So I went back to Shelly(the Gladwin SOS mgr) and asked her what now to do. She said she had dealt with the Gladwin City police dept and this certain officer had lots of expierence with doing inspections. I went to the Gladwin City police office and talked to a really nice office lady who called the police chief on her cell. I then talked to him and he said if I wanted to bring trailer over to office in Gladwin at 3 PM on Friday when the officer starts his shift. COOL!! I took trailer over to a salvage yard to get weighed and the to Gladwin. Officer came out about 3:15, looked it over- I showed him the 399 stamped on the tounge but he didn't think that was it. So he filled out form stating no # found and looked it up or whatever and off I went to see Shelly again. $67.00 and 2 weeks later I got the Title! Registered as a 1958 Easy Travler 13 ft. That was what it looks like. And later when starting to clean it up I can see that was correct- Found "Easy Travler" sticker barely visable under paint at front of it. Well with help from some people who care a little it is done- whew... Now I am starting to clean it up..
