Under the undercut in front you will only want ONE piece of paneling for the radius and up to the undercut. Don't try to do that in two pieces. And on top in the rear you don't want a seam in the middle of a radius. You want most of the sharpest part of the radius to be one panel. Where you have a seam shown make that one panel. Most trailers have at least one panel that is only 18 inches to two feet wide and it's usually just forward or rearward of the vent. Mostly forward of it. That piece is there to use up scrap and to give you a place for an odd shape because of the fact that you start from both ends of the wrap and work towards the middle of the top. Then that last piece is that little one. Might be skewed a bit so you can use that piece to fill it all in nicely.

Nice... I'll let you know. Jewel emblems seem to be a rare item.

A little backwards but what ever works I suppose. We usually put the wall metal up first and then put the roof with the fold over on afterwards. But she's looking good. We'll have to let the test of time tell us if sealing the plywood works. There are pros and cons to that.

More and more, that's the case with a lot of builds and needs now. No one needs an oven. There are now steam and convection appliances that can cook much more efficiently and without the need for propane. So just a cook up is all you really need. The extra room is always welcome in these small trailers so another cabinet space is opened up by removing the oven. On the other hand, if you ARE going for vintage era perfection, you need the Princess stove to make your trailer complete.

Our deluxe has the ironing board but I’ve been told their will be no ironing on camping trips. I just want it to be there so they ask me what it is and how it works. LOL... The wife will love it. She dresses and looks like she just stepped out of the 50s with Lucy. And she owns a Vintage Shop that sells all kinds of vintage stuff. Imagine the displays she will be able to do at the rallies...

FRP or Fiberglass Reinforced Plywood will cost a chunk also. I would stick with aluminum. One of the bad things about FRP is that it tends to delaminate over time from the plywood. Then it looks horrible and there is no repair. Again. Stick with aluminum. Yes it's expensive. What isn't today???

I Approve! For those radius bends in the ceiling use two layers of paneling. One 1/8 inch birch or what ever you want, and one 1/8 inch utility board underneath. So the good panel goes on first and then cover with the utility panel. I did the all plywood Mainline like that. worked great.

Where are the interior photos? I would never pay more than $1000 for any camper that needs a total restore.

Larry, I think that small wood piece at the highest part of the ironing board spins out of the way and then you pull the ironing board towards you and then lift up so the lowest part of the ironing board comes out of the slot at the bottom. So, Tom, Do you remove the cutting board off the wall and then insert the rectangular end into the cutting board slot and slide it back as far as it goes. How was the cover attached? Thanks, Rod You slide it in a foot is my guess. I have put it in that slot a few times for my wife to iron my t-shirts. Really I saw it and had to figure out were it went and the only spot I could find was to pull the cutting board out. As for a cover I assume you will need to go back to Shasta and buy one or make one. Larry if you need to get measurements of the holder let me know. I know that it goes into the cutting board slot. I just don't know what that fatter piece on the big end of the board is for or how it is made. I need to make one to complete this 59 Airflyte. It will really tickle the owner I think.

This 59 Airflyte came with an ironing board but it is missing. Does anyone have photos or drawings of an original? I have a photo of one that is in place in the closet but I don't really understand it.

I always put the flooring down first. Them mount walls on top. Did that with my Jewel. And that's the way the manufacturers do all of them.

Interesting. I guess Shasta changed the rack dimensions over the years. The rack on my 62 was not the same size and the side rails weren't cambered to make the rack wider at the walls. Also the face was only 3/16" thick and held in place with 9 round head twisty nails. I made a new face for mine and reused the original frame. The original face is shown below. Cool. Thanks.
