With the ACE Rust and Valspar anti-rust armor both discontinued I am trying to find another tintable alternative for paint. I have heard of people using the Alkyd enamel but have not heard of anyone specifically using this brand. I believe it was vikx that said they used the alkyd from Sherman Williams, is that correct? Do you think this is a good option to use? The SW one is out of my budget. www.lowes.com/pd/Valspar-Ultra-4000-Satin-Oil-based-Enamel-Interior-Exterior-Paint-Actual-Net-Contents-126-fl-oz/4732011Also I just called SW and the guy annoying and said that I need to be using a latex based paint that I wont need a primer like I would with the oil based and that the oil based will crack and peel. Any how much easier the latex will be to work with and so on and so on and highly told me not to us oil based. I thought everyone on here uses oil based paint? I dont even think Ive heard of anyone using latex based paint on their trailers? please tell me if Im wrong.

In my opinion, oil based is a way to go on a budget. Latex just doesn't hold up as well and doesn't have as nice a sheen. Others may disagree.
A word of warning, satin looks different from brand to brand so I'd buy a tiny sample container (if they sell one) and be sure it isn't too dull.
