Today I took apart 3 of my interior lights in order to paint them. The wiring looks good- all seemed solid. One weird thing - where the 2 green wires met and were capped with a connector- each connector also had a small piece of copper wire in it (see photo). Can someone explain why this might be there? Many vintage trailers did not run grounds on the lighting circuit. When they did, the short copper wire would be connected to the ground in the Romex. (Romex is the sheathed wires, white, black and bare copper/ground)
The copper wire looks like it has been snipped.
To connect this light, you would connect greens to copper with a wing nut. Also, the other green should be riveted to the metal light base, not wrapped around the switch. Be sure all connections are tight!
