I would do that except you might not come up with a set of pig tails that suited SusieQ then she would feel cheated and I couldn't stand that.

Humph... good point. Damn it. Ok... for the moment, let's let her keep them while we come up with another idea or the curly pigs tails. I'm okay with that if you are. I kinda believe SusieQ may go along with it too.

OK I am thrilled with that idea as long as it makes you happy. PS: sometime this winter I plan to build a new set for mine and if my idea works I won't have much in them ($25 or $30) and they will look nice, if not then on to plan B.

Excellent! We're all agreed. Now, along the lines of your building a set... did I read something somewhere on the forum about design plans? I understand depending on which year and trailer you have the wing size is different. Anyone know where I could find that if it is uploaded somewhere? Also, do you recommend making your own or actually trying to locate vintage?
(Sitting on a heard to hear conference call taking tons of notes -- none work related! Shhhhh.... TeeHee!)

I vote for keeping my wings We can a make pattern from the them for your wings, Aloha. I know where there's a pair of wings on a teardrop. I doubt he'd give them up. They make for quite a conversation piece. I don't need curly pig tails. My pig will have WINGS!

Wings are not that hard to build. I may have to do a video series on that sometime. I'm going to rebuild the ones I have for the 59 and actually that video would work fine for building new ones.

I found a really good tutorial online. There's actually a pattern posted here in the Wings section: vintagetrailertalk.freeforums.net/thread/76/shasta-wing-patterns

I just have to share this. I received this adorable flying pig today from a forum member. It's a window magnet! I put it on a picture frame just to see what it looks like. Such a thoughtful gesture. It really warmed my heart and my son was just tickled pink! image by susieqilvu, on Flickr

Just cut some temporary ones out of wood and paint them. They will last a few years until you can buy new original ones. That way everyone is happy, still friends, and everyone has wings!

Making progress on my little flying pig. Shortest day of the year and we finally had nice weather but I managed to accomplish something. I managed to wedge a new board between the frame and floor to replace the one I broke. I took a while but i got'er done plus some. image by susieqilvu, on Flickr

Lookin good if you keep it up one of these days it will be done. Then you won't have nothing to do but go camping or start another.

SusieQ you do nice work... Thanks! I'm a camper. The goal is to have it finished by spring. I think my husband and my neighbors would kill me if I brought another one home. I'd have to rent a storage unit and hide it. But I can see how this can be addictive! Trying to talk the hubby into getting me new tow vehicle then I could go bigger, haha! Rain tomorrow And then cold again!

I was checking our long range weather forecast and it appears that it will be warm here sometime in April. I have got to make room to get my Shasta in the shop if it will be usable by spring.
