So I have a 1963 Shasta 16SC- has a small bathroom with a toilet/black tank which I will keep- as I don't mind using dump stations (use them with my 1990 RV all the time). My newer RV also has a shower- which I like having. The Shasta's bathroom is too small to add a shower- but I saw this outside shower: www.campchef.com/portable-water-heater-triton-5l.html Great thing is- I have points to use with my credit card - and can get this for free. Anyone have any thoughts? It runs off propane- maybe I can add a quick connect to the outside of the trailer to the propane tank? Ignition is with a battery- so no electric hook up needed. I can just pull this out- hook it up- and have a warm shower I just thought it might be a solution for me- for when I am in need of a warm shower and not near a campground. ( Being a Tomboy- I do know how to rough it- and can go days without a shower- but it's always nice to have the option Just wanted too see if anyone had any thoughts on this set up. Thanks

@mobiletec would you add a drain to the tent and then have the shower/toilet inside? I like the idea of it and configuration.

I would probably cut a big square hole in the middle. And I'd just leave the porta-potty in there. I would add a redwood grate to stand on and keep my feet clean. Prolly have to make that.

Yep - or get a bamboo one from Ross for cheap (my style, but then I don't have the tools...). I am wondering also about how it would travel - would this be attached to the outside permanently, with hook up to the hose connection within the trailer? If so...how would this hold up during travel?

The tent folds up. Everything else stores. I would only do something like this for an extended stay and if I had a woman with me who just had to have it all...

I just wonder how it would attach to the trailer outside with hoses needing to attach to the city water interface. Seems like it could be tricky.

No it's free standing like a regular tent and the heater hangs on a hook inside. You only need a short hose and a bucket of water. It pumps water out of the bucket and heats it and then pumps it out to the shower head... If you are near a lake or a stream you can run a hose to that.

The Coleman ones have their own pump..

The walk nude from the tent to the trailer might attract attention, which could be good or bad depending how you look at it plus you might get your feet dirty.

In all seriousness we always used our swim suits and a hose if a shower house wasn't available back in the day. You would be amazed how warm the water in a 100 feet of black hose can get on a sunny day, also how long it will last if used conservatively with a spray nozzle. You washed down as far as possible then washed up as far as possible, then went in the trailer and washed possible.
When we used to fish in northern Canada we used to find places in the rock along the edge of the lakes where erosion over the centuries formed tubs that filled with water from waves. The sun would heat these in the summer when the lake was calm and they made a good bath tub and in that part of the world you would go days and not see another person unless they came with you so who needed a tent. Plus the water was clean enough to drink. This was a beautiful planet before man screwed it up, I feel lucky to have experienced it before excess pollution came about. I hope some of that area still exists.
