Wow, I like your stain! Very creative and looks great.
I hope the Krylon works holds on long term. Sounds like you did a good job prepping it. I have various experiences. I've had it peel off some crafty items. But I once painted an outdoor plastic table that was sun faded and dried out and it sucked up the Krylon for plastic and stuck like a charm.
