I guess I have to say that despite some of the goofy "rules" the hysterical society has come up with, it stopped cold the building of 8000 sq ft starter castles in the historical district of our little town. It's nice to know that someone of average means can still afford a little house with a beautiful view. And the folks who need three stories at 2000+ sq ft each can still have them, just not next to the little 1880s cottage.

Well,it's taken me longer that I had anticipated to get the customers car out of my garage so I will attempt to get the too tall Shasta through that to small opening this weekend were I can really start making some progress.
I just got sick of uncovering it for a hour here and a hour their that I really haven't done anyting in the last couple of months.
I will remove the wheels & tires and set the axles on a couple of tire dollies and hopefully get the camper inside the shop where I can finish dissembling it. Danny

Danny I majorly regret not recruiting someone to help me get mine in the garage. Hindsight is 20/20. But it was cold and icy and just didn't seem possible at the time by little ole me. Get her in there! I had some really beautiful work ruined when the tarp blew off!

Yes SusieQ but it built character. Also it probably allowed your son to increase his vocabulary. Plus it allowed you to find out how really good you are at repairing.

I feel your pain. 4 inches of rain the other night here in NC with winds that would have sent the tarp floating to you in SC. As some of you know, about two months ago I finally gave up and built my lean to. Best $1000 I've spent yet on the camper. Not as good as a garage, but better than the the tarp. I envy people with big barns.

I have deconstructed the camper as far as I feel comfortable as long as it sits outside and knowing summer will eventually come to a end having the Shasta inside where it is warm and dry I will not be limited to working on it during the short and wet days of winter. I spent most of the day yesterday in the oppressive heat & humidity trying to get the camper in the shop, the tongue jack is so rusty it will not works so I resorted to using the zip wheel to cut the nuts off and finally was able to remove it to get the front of the trailer low enough. The next step to my plan was to remove the wheels and set the axle on a set of creepers used to move cars around. I then got out the ladder and climbed up to remove the vent,,from my prospective I was sure it would clear the opening. I have a roll up door on both sides of the shop so I then hooked a chain to the tongue of the trailer and Brenda slowly pulled the trailer into the shop....no go,it's still about one to one and a half inches to tall. We pushed it back outside,I was tired and it had started to rain so we decided to cover it back up and by that time the skies had opened up and it's still raining this morning. I guess my next plan of attack is to move the creepers under the frame,,if that doesn't give me the desired I'll pull the axle. I am starting to remember what a bunch of my car building buddy's are fond of saying sarcastically when we run into a problem with cars. "Ain't old cars fun" "Ain't old Campers fun" Danny

With my garage, I measured it 800 ways from Sunday and couldn't figure out how to get the camper in. That's why I finally broke down and built a Lean-to. By the way, we love the shape of your camper, it's great. I remember reading about one man who took his garage door off to gain the extra inch he needed. A lot of work, but it might be the only option you have.

If your door is hanging down into the garage opening usually you can release the operator push the door up then block it with a piece of wood to hold it there.

That is why mine never went in. I measured and measured and without taking the axle off, the door was at least an inch too low. And that's with really sagging springs.

I am reminded of the Lead Zeppelin song..when the levee breaks, especially "If it keeps on raining"
I can't seem to catch a break with the weather lately. Danny

Danny, I got my trailer in Nov. and it was rain or snow all winter. Then in warmed up enough to work on it and rained, and rained and stormed and stormed. Now the sun is shining and it's 96 degrees out there. Indoors is the only true solution. You'll get it in there and you'll be glad you made the effort, trust me!

Well.. we got the same problem..I want to work on the 59,but the Airflyte is tall.We have 7 foot doors on our garage too.Our inner ceilings in the shop are 12.5 ft. tall.I do have wheel dollies that will lower the whole shasta by 12 inches by removing the wheels and tires and placing the hubs into the dollies....Our winters are cold, lots of snow and HARSH.I do have indoor storage(my wife works at a place) but no access to work on it over the winter or heat.(kinda need that) I am gonna give it a second look!. Daisy Duke looks on for encouragement.
