When you open up an old trailer to begin cleaning it out and tearing it apart for restoral, usually some little treasures are found. One person found an envelope with $1300 in cash. That hasn't happened to me yet but I have found some interesting little things. Today when I pulled the dinette seats out of the 59 Shasta I found a TV Guide dated as follows.
Vol. 12, No. 27 | July 4, 1964 | Issue #588
Local Programs, Northern Callifornia Edition.
Lyndon Johnson was president and also the first main topic in the magazine regarding television and news conferences. Robert Goralski was NBC's White House Correspondent at the time. Seems the Prez didn't like TV news conferences.
July 4th was a Saturday that year and at 12:00 noon Sky King was on Channel 5, and on channels 7, 11, and 13 was The Bugs Bunny Show. Also on TV that day was Long John Silver, American Bandstand, Peter Gunn, Outlaws, Rin Tin Tin, Hootenanny, Wide World Of Sports, My Three Sons, Patty Duke, Candid Camera, Naked City, Joey Bishop, Lawrence Welk, Best Of Groucho and a whole list of 10 year old movies from the 50s.
Ahh the good old days.
What treasures have you found?

Now that is cool ... and a keeper. I remember watching many of those shows. I'm getting excited about cleaning out that Travelmaster, excluding the rodent nests, after all. So far I've found mouse eaten classics and Best By 1997 unopened Grape soda cans - soda evaporated.

I found some vintage mouse droppings in this one but not too many. I felt very lucky.

Fair amounts of vintage rodent fecal matter...but one cool old can of Lawnboy 2-stroke oil. Early 70's era...just so happens I'm a Lawnboy enthusiast so it works for me. My daily "driver" is a '78 model Lawnboy I've mowed with for almost thirty years.

I found a wheat back penny, a silver half dollar, a Carolyn Wright catalogue from 1972, and the game of Clue.

Talking about money, I was helping a neighbor fix a bathroom and had to go under the floor, and while i was digging around found a Queen Victoria one cent dated 1837. thought maybe it would help pay for my time.

A jar of rotten fish bait, broken umbrellas, two LARGE rolls of paper(maybe to wrap the fish?), lots of medicines, a pair of 7 D work boots, coins, lanterns, druggie stuff, cast iron frying pans, magazines and newspapers.
You can pretty much name it and I've found it. Got lots of kitchen paraphernalia, too. Weird poles and ropes that don't seem to do much... Toothpicks, dead french fries, spices and nests.
One of the Oasii (how's that for plural, Mobile??) had bags of very old moldy family photos, tax records and 3 electric heaters. The other one had:
An unopened bottle of Jose Cuervo Gold Especial !!! It's no longer sealed...

Upon stepping into our trailer for the first time, it took my son only a few seconds to find his treasure, a 1980 German pfennig coin which is of absolutely no value to anyone but him. There is also a toaster, oh yay!
I'm sure when we start pulling stuff out, we'll find much more.

Mine was still in use the year before I bought it, so it was pretty well equipped. Enough paper plates and cups to last years. Toilet paper and napkins. Coffee stirrers and salt/pepper/sugar packets up the ying yang. A few old pots and pans. Toilet chemicals. A fully-equipped junk drawer full of plumbing fittings, old broken window cranks, etc. A pressure regulator for the city water fitting. Fresh water hose. All original cushions with those lovely gold and brown plaid covers.
Almost full propane tanks.
A working, very old, very heavy, small microwave.
Two tiki torches with oil, and two yellow glass candle lanterns with little flat candles to go with them.
Every manual for every appliance, and the generic Shasta owner's manual. A hand-drawn diagram of the tow wiring harness for about five different campers.
Dead mouse in the oven. Crapload of acorns in the floor under the oven. Mouse nest in the furnace, active bees nest on top of the black tank.
The only "treasure" was a '74 quarter inside the back wall (sure coulda used $1300). Also, the aluminum belly has "2050 bad back" in red magic marker near the rear wall.

While checking out a '69 Serro Scottie (cute!) today the owner told me he was the second owner and had had it well over half its life but hadn't used in about 15 or 20 years. Since it's rather small inside he opted to remain outside while I investigated and took pictures of the interior. In the process of checking the trailer over I removed the need to be trashed cushions, opened the dinette bench storage area and came out with an old cigar box with a .50 piece and about 13 pennies. As I handed it to home I laughingly said he'd already made money on it! Since he was an older gentlemen I chose to leave the, I'm sure, much more valuable vintage memorabilia inside the trailer - a 1970s sex toy newspaper style catalogue also in the storage area. Beat that find iF you can! Oops! That was a poor choice of words wasn't it!

Nope, not the cat. Or the portapotty, although there was one in it when we first saw it, the PO kept that. That awning though, was familiar when I first saw it. It was made by a local company to the trailer's location, Eureka Tent and Awning. Our family lived in the same area for a couple generations as the trailer had been. My Dad had a couple different tents that he had bought from the same place, and the canvas is the same. Then there was this: I am pretty sure that I don't want to sample it.

My very first post here. I just joined yesterday. I like this question! Not too difficult. My favorite find is a Aluminum clothing hanger. It will never rust. I found it in the closet. It's cool! I wonder how many miles it has traveled? It could go back to 1963... who knows!
