There are a few different types of "putty tape" out there so I thought I would give you the exact name and manufacturer of the gray tape with the white crinkly paper on it so you sound like you know what you are talking about when you ask for it at a retailer. Sometimes we go in there and call stuff names like "that gray tape", "doohickies", and thingamajigs so I actually called my retailer and asked what they call it when they order the stuff.
I get it in 3/4 width, and 1 inch width, most is 1/8 inch thick but I can also get it in 3/16 inches thick. It's gray with crinkly paper on it to keep it from sticking together and it is called "Mobile Seal #160 Putty Tape" and is made by Elixir Industries....

Thanks! Make it so much easier to google and find a source when you know the name.

LOL the never-ending putty tape conundrum. Is that the all-mastic, original type, or the blend with some butyl in it?

LOL the never-ending putty tape conundrum. Is that the all-mastic, original type, or the blend with some butyl in it? Ya got me.... It looks and feels just like the old stuff I pull off the windows and brows of a 50s trailer. All I did was call up my retailer and asked her what they call it when they order it and who makes it. They didn't have a list of ingredients.

Yeah, the stuff I buy at the rv place has nothing for labeling except a price tag with a bar code on it. But it also feels just like the old stuff. 'Bout $8/roll IIRC.
