If I'm building my trailer from the inside out and have my ceiling installed before the roof skin, how do I check for leaks? Do I just hope for the best and expect the worse? I am reusing the old roof.

Unfortunately, you will have to wait and see. BUT, if you make sure that when you are reattaching the skins, the trim pieces, windows and doors, that you use the proper sealants/butyl tape where needed.

On our campers we usually seal it, as Ross said above, then roll it out from the trailerport when a huge rain is expected. We then camp in the driveway and check for leaks keeping in mind that water ALWAYS finds a hole or low point. It can take days for a leaking seam to show up on an inside panel. I guess it all depends on the path water takes.
