I had to go down to So Cal to pick up the 59 Shasta so I thought I would see if I could sell the 61 Aljo down there instead of up here. I needed the money for the new 125 thousand BTU heater for the shop. The sale on CL was successful because I offered free delivery. It went to San Diego, CA to a very nice young couple who are going to restore it together as a family project. I wanted to cut the trip in half because it is so much driving to do in one day. So I stopped here at Horton Creek Campground 10 miles north of Bishop off the 395. You've all seen this place before. Video to come soon... Here's a photo of my usual camp ground near Bishop CA with the 61 Aljo at the base of the Eastern Sierra. I was very comfy that cold night using my Coleman Sportcat Heater.

I like the Aljo. The desert is the place to be if somebody want a late 50s -early 60s camper.

I like the Aljo. The desert is the place to be if somebody want a late 50s -early 60s camper. That one was a perfect fit for my tall self. I had 4 inches of head room sleeping and that was without my feet touching the other wall. Same with the ceiling. Would have loved to be able to keep it but I aint rich and winter is a commin. If I want to work this winter I need the heater so the Aljo had to go. Got to camp in it for two nights though.

Your photo brings back memories. I grew up in Arizona an own 5 acres of desert 1/2 way between Phoenix and Tucson that looks just like your photo. We use to camp there all the time and I though it was great fun. We had a dune buggy and motor cycles to explore. We would drive over to the mountain and climb up a ways you can see for 100 miles. Cooked on the camp fire. Star show in big sky country it total amazing.
After living and camping in Tennessee 40 years I went back to Arizona to camp on my property 3 yrs ago. No water, no electric, no streams, no lakes, no river, no rain, no trees, no shade, nothing in any direction for many miles, there is nothing there but cactus, rock, brush. The only thing I still like is the totally amazing star show after dark, WOW... double WOW. If people in the East have never been to big sky country you need to go there at lease once.

This is in the Owens Valley in California along the eastern Sierra. I love it there. Been camping there for over 40 years.

Do Ranger Rick, Bud, and Sandy know that you have Flipper and are delivering him somewhere ? Isn't that kidnapping?
