I'd been looking for a replacement for our 2002 GMC Sonoma extended cab (which only had a small sideways jump seat in the back and 5500 lbs towing capacity) for about a year. We borrowed my brother in law's Chevy Silverado for our 8000 mile trip a couple years ago, it was extended cab and worked out really well. I finally found a 2006 GMC Sierra extended cab, 5.3 L V8 with only 85K miles. (7700 lbs towing capacity) Last weekend we towed the FAN (3200 lbs fully loaded) on a 300 mile round trip . Very happy to say it went well. These trucks often go 200K miles or more. It'll probably outlast me...I sure hope so.

Nice looking unit. Probably gets some decent fuel mileage too.

I have a 2011 Silverado extended cab that I love, it has a 9600 lb tow capacity, rides nice, looks good and I'm hoping it last 2 or 3 hundred thousand miles, if so it will be my last truck. I bought it new and it only has 53K on it now so if it runs 300k I will be 100 years old or better. In other words it will probably outlast me.

I have a 2000 K3500 Chevy, it has about 240,000 + miles on it, I know it will out last Me, might take a rebuild on the engine and trans, but this is the newest I will ever go. LOL

mrmarty51, Actually the mileage isn't great, but it is a truck, so I didn't expect much. 14.3MPG towing...14.5 around town. We rationalize this because we drive a Toyota Prius that gets 50 mpg most of the time. So, combined we get something like 30mpg which is pretty good.
