By the way Zippitydoda,
Many thanks for linking the plan for the magazine rack! That'll go on the do-list, but way down after all the repairs are done. I love the classic look of the "S", and it will be a great finishing touch!

Hey again folks,
Does anyone have any pictures of the grey and black water tanks in the 16SCS?
Posts or links welcome, and I'm headed over to Larry's site shortly to have a look there.
Thanks,
Corky

Rain Bonnet for Ms. Belle Well, after lots of rain and hand/arm surgery this week for ole Corky, I decided it was time to button up Ms. Belle for the winter. I'll post some more pictures later, but this heavy-duty 11X19 tarp from Harbor freight oughta keep the roof leaks from doing any more damage while I mend me ole arm. You can't see it too well in this nighttime picture, but I've rigged the string so I it won't be too hard to lift the bonnet and sneak in the side door for some work later--there's more ole tinkerers than there are old doctors!! Corky Hope you can still open the door. Ya got another arm to drink with, right?

Hey folks,
It's been a hectic five months around my place since I last posted about Ms. Belle, but a nice note from Zippidy Doo Da has me motivated to get back on the project!
Sometime over the next week or so, I'll open up the 16SCS and figure out a starting point for my work...and will post a few pictures too!
Hope all here are well; looking forward to the journey!

Welcome back, Corky! I hope you recovered well from your surgery. Glad you're back on board. Thanks SusieQ! The arm surgery went so well in December, that last week I played golf for the first time since, and the surgery never even crossed my mind! So I guess that means it was a success...or I am getting forgetful! Lol. Corky All kidding aside, if anyone needs carpal tunnel or cubital tunnel release these days, there is little reason for fear or concern...it was truly a piece of cake to have both at the same time on the same arm! When I had the same thing done ten years ago on the other arm, it was far more invasive, and hurt like &&$$:!":!!!.

Oh, the stories that camper could tell! Congrats on making an old woman's day and benefitting not just you and your grandson, but all of those folks out there who will now get to see a sample of mid-century America that otherwise would have escaped them!

I might be able to get you a picture of the black tank. It's out of the trailer and broken but it will show the shape. Will try to remember next time I shoot photos..

Hey folks,
Since embarking on my journey with Ms. Belle last fall, I have been determined to begin a restoration project on this unique little camper, in the hopes of bringing it back to the open road for a new generation of happy campers.
Unfortunately, several hurdles have stood in my way; an unexpected job change, surgery, and the plain fact that ole Corky doesn't have the time or energy he once had to tackle such an enjoyable project,--and git 'er done right--while keeping all the rest of life's little balls juggling too.
So I've concluded that it's reality time--time to find another loving home for this great little project, with a great story and an inspiring name. But rather than just going straight to eBay to unleash the unknowing masses on her, I'm first going to offer Ms. Belle here, by private offer, to one of you. No open offers please, because I'm not just going to sell to the highest bidder.
What's my price you ask?? I dunno, but I'm guessing I'll know it when I see it, along with your plans for Ms. Belle's future. I'll keep this offer open for thirty days, until Friday, July 25th. Then I'll pick the best private message received, and determine who gets Ms. Belle. If an offer is accepted, the sale is for pickup right where she sits, in my driveway in Athens, Georgia.
Many thanks!
Corky

If you heat with the cook stove open the roof vent a little or you will be found dead the next morning. Also take a large coffee can or a tomato juice can clean the labels off of it punch holes in both ends, several, then set it on a burner and you will get a lot more heat transfer to the air. but remember to open the vent to allow the fumes out.

That same open vent might blow out the flame. Unconsumed propane will collect at the floor, it won't rise and vent out the roof. Don't heat with your stove.

Hi folks,
Judging from the lack of response to my post of June 24th, followed by two relatively unrelated posts about heating a camper with its cook stove, (always a bad idea in my view), I'm guessing one of two things:
First, either you all thought my post was spam and I couldn't possibly want to sell Ms. Belle; or, Second, you all thought I had lost my senses, and I couldn't possibly want to sell Ms. Belle!
Well, judging from your silence, and the unmitigated wrath of my two grandsons resulting from the mere suggestion of a sale, it turns out to be true: I couldn't possibly want to sell Ms. Belle!
I don't know when I'll get the time to start work on Ms. Belle; but in the meantime, she'll sit right where she is, right there in my driveway!
Thanks for ignoring my moment of weakness! LOL
