... about $500 for paint and adds for what I need . But said single stage is gloss unless you add something else... That's not a bad price for auto paint. It's not cheap, but the best never is the cheapest. |

This thread is scary! All of the hard work, 1000 hours, thousands of dollars and then the paint fails? Aaahhh!!!
I keep toying with the idea of spraying it myself, by draping one of the bays in our auto dealership with plastic and creating a booth. But I have never used a sprayer in my life. I am going to get a quote from my husbands body shop guys. After they give me their price I'm going to ask them how much they will take off if I have a sign made that says "painted by "____________ ", and put it out at the local auto shows that I will be putting the trailer in.
Vintage trailers are so rare up here in Canada that they get a major amount of attention. I happen to know how much advertising costs due to our car dealership, so I know thats a good strategy. Wish me luck... (Although that won't be till next spring.).

I was actually at the local vintage trailer show today.
Last year there were two vintage canned hams, and 80 bowlers. This year there were 10 tin cans! Anyway two had progressional paint jobs and the rest were home jobs. It was very motivating to get a professional job after seeing the brush jobs!

Getting close! Going to go for it myself. Yesterday bought a gun.... Euro hvlp. Guy at auto paint shop gave me a nice set up and use lession with thinner . Also got the epoxy primer and additives. Will pick color first of week. Just need this insane heatwave over. But better than Texas...poor folks there.

We want to watch... ! I've chickened out a few times now... Get some tractor paint and paint your shed or some old skins you were going to trash. It's easier than I thought to get pretty good results. I was planning on practicing on other things like my blazer, stock tank, and finally the 63 Scamp... I had to turn the Super Shasta over to a pro though. I wasn't about to practice on that. Also just found out the 59 Shasta Airflyte is finished. I'll go down south and pick that up as soon as he get's it detailed. |

I had a Scamper, about a 69. Sadly, the Scamper "disappeared" when donating it's frame to the 58 Cardinal... It had some pretty cool interior features, but was so far gone. Still have parts if you are in need.
