I am trying to determine if my hand pump works or not, but it pushes so hard that I can't even determine if it will ever pump water. I've done a search of pages and pages, but can't find any previous threads that discuss refurbishing a pump of this style. Do I just squirt some lubricant in it and try it? Do I tear it apart and replace a seal somewhere? Is there a replacement readily available besides the Rocket pump (that I don't like the look of nearly as much as this one). Another thing, I'm not entirely sure this one is original. It has a sticker on it from like an old time hardware store, $8.25 handwritten in ink. It also has a sticker that says T-1239. A & E Sytems, Santa Ana, CA And it lists several model numbers.

The best lubricant is actually water. If you can get the inlet end submerged and draw the handle up, soaking it may be all it needs to loosen the dried seals. It has been a while since I've seen any sort of rebuild parts for any of these faucets. Maybe someone will have a line on a source.

I'd try to open it up and see what gaskets and o-rings are used. They are all probably cracked and in need of replacement. Many can be found in assortment kits from home depot
