That awning is tutorial worthy. Maybe a sketch of what you did? will do

Ok... so everyone beware! The red striped awning I ordered is almost purple in color. I will have to return it. Have not decided what I'm going to do. Either order the other plain red ALEKO awning or go back to my plan to sew from scratch. This is a photo of the actual awning I received next to a red plastic lid...

I think dark red is purty. Seems maroon to me... very classy. I'm sure a member will want it, ask?

danrhodes let me know if this is even understandable or not. I wrote hem all edges on the top, I should have said all but the very top edge where there is a loop for the plastic rope to slide in. You dont want to hem that loop hole or you wont be able to push the plastic rope in. But you will need to hem all the other edges/notches you cut in the fabric. IMG_1710 by Mel L, on Flickr

I'm not home right now and want to jump on this while I'm thinking of it. Does anyone know what side I'd need/want for a 1960 Airflyte? Did you end up measuring the awning rail? I was thinking about ordering one for my airflyte before they are gone. But I have been lazy and haven't got out to measure yet.

My sister bought the red/white stripe and it's a truer red color. It looks really good.

I really, really want to hit "buy it now" on one of these! Can you help me with: In the ads, I cannot tell which way the measurements run - if the Metzendorf railing is 9 or 10 feet ( I don't remember off the top of my head, will go measure) - what size do I buy? Also, this is going to sound STUPID but we tent camped until this summer - I understand how my awning rail works but don't understand the poles and ropes. Dumb, I know but I've never seen one set up and there are no videos I found. Can someone help me out? Thanks! SO exciting - I really want the blue and white one!

You need an 8x10 awning. The larger number is always the length of the awning along the trailer. You just need to buy 3 awning poles and then buy some brass grommets to add 3 holes to the awning. If you have extra fabric it's not a bad idea to double the fabric where the geometric goes. Once you have the poles you buy two guy ropes for each pole to hold each pole steady. They go into the ground with tent pegs.

Just a follow up to my situation with the wrong color awning being sent my way. The company was really good about it. They refunded my full purchase plus told me to keep the awnings for myself. Or throw them away. So I think I will sew up the awnings and sell them for a reasonable price. The profit will go towards my favourite awning fabric, that is a little pricy, but the perfect vintage red for what I want. I'm painting my trailer 1957 chevy red and cream that will work with a "Canada" theme to my trailer. so wanted something to match. Here is my new choice...
