People,
PLEASE DO NOT PAY PHOTOBUCKET'S RANSOM at this time. They want us to pay to have our photos hosted. happened just this week.
We need to discuss what we want to do and possible remedies for this situation.
In the meantime,
DO NOT USE PHOTOBUCKET to POST PHOTOS from Photobucket. Try Google or Flickr instead...

SURPRISE!!
Not really....
This is plain and simple bullshit no matter how thin you slice it. Reminds me of the birth of this forum, much the same type of hostage-taking.
It will become a long ongoing process, especially since my internet connection has been absolutely horrible lately.... Premiun pricing for service that works less than half the time... But I digress. Personally I will be taking my thousands of photos down from photorobber one at a time, and will not only move them, but will move them to multiple hosting sites, so I can continue the next time one of these corporate bandits decides they are not rich enough. Leads into a political rant, simply stated, this is the end of the monopoly game when everything is deregulated. Now that corporations are "people", we are their slaves.

It says in the article that every person on a forum would basically have to give PB $39. Or yoA month. That's $50 Canadian.

vikx You should sticky this text or a variation at the top of each forum until users can extract their images from Photobucket: For users who are affected by this, it is important to note that the images are not gone. They are still hosted on Photobucket, and you can actually load them right then and there by right-clicking on them and selecting "open image in new tab"
You can download your entire library of images by selecting Library on Photobucket, and there the download album link under actions.

Thanks Dan.
I added it to Photobucket Troubles which is stickied. Maybe start a new thread and then lock it so the info doesn't get lost...

What's the answer for those of us that have been using PB for years and ALL our posts have pics that link back?

I switched Flickr a while ago so I haven't been using my phitobucket. But it's strange all the phitobucket photos still show up on my posts, they are all still on my compact thread. They probably just haven't figured me out yet. I really need to save them before there gone.

What's the answer for those of us that have been using PB for years and ALL our posts have pics that link back? Save your photos from PB. Join Flickr or Google photos, etc. Replace the photos used where possible and ask a moderator to consider deleting entire threads that can't be repaired so that they make sense.

The little PB box of death says 100%... maybe they only zapped those of us that linked a certain amount of pictures?
