Aloha All! First and foremost, thank you to all that have put so much effort into this excellent website/forum. I am slowly making my way through each of the folders and topics taking way more notes than I should. I swear I'm going to have a fleet of vintage trailers one day all based on the excitement I get from this site! I don't know if I should love you or hate you. My head and heart tell me one thing but my bank account is already groaning and I'm just getting started!
Now if I may, would this be the place to make a website suggestion? If no, please tell me where to do so. If yes... how much trouble would it be to add the Page X X and Next buttons found at the top of the folder listings to the bottom of the pages also? I tend to start at the top of each section and read down. Upon reaching the end it would be nice to just hit whichever page or the Next button to move on. Admittedly it takes nothing to scroll back to the top and I am good with doing so just wanted to throw out a potential upgrade. Consider it an Enhancement Request vice a Discrepancy Report. (Yes, I'm a software testing engineer by trade. Ugh.)
Thank you again to all for all. Aloha!

I just hit the back button to go back to top and each time I visit I use the recent button to view all the new post.

Good idea Aloha! Thanks NM for the button.
Aloha, you don't need to take too many notes, we are dedicated to keeping most posts on this forum. we hesitate to delete posts, simply because we want to archive the information.
Hopefully, the search option will continue to improve.

WOW! Are you fast or what! I believe I need to send my developers to see you folks! An Enhancement Request can take years, if ever, here! Thank you.
As for the note taking, to be truthful, it's two-fold. I appreciate the fact that the site is dedicated to keeping most posts but by note taking I hopefully won't need to search again later if the case arises (though we all know I will) and it's helping me to learn some of the lingo and nuances to this fascinating new hobby of mine. I have a lot to learn! Also, and probably more importantly, it allows me to pass along words of wisdom from the wise to my Handy-Andy-Dandy-Man that jumped right in working on it before I had the opportunity to "figure stuff out". Since I and my trailer are 100 miles apart I'm literally taking snip-its of the forum's expertise and passing them along to him in the form of an email via his wife or a phone call. An interesting way to restore/renovate a trailer for sure. I'm thankful I have you folks to help.
I do admit that the two most valuable lessons I've already learned did not require any note taking. First, I'll have another trailer in the not so distant future -- one where I'll get all the hands-on experience I could desire. And second, like my addiction to long distance hiking, this is going to be another extreme addiction -- I'm about to have a garage/carport built on my mountain properties to store those future trailers awaiting renovation! Now that's sad... or fun!

That's odd - I have always had a 'floating' button for "previous" and "next" that appears at the top no matter how far down the page I read. Maybe that only appears in some web browsers? I'm using my Android phone, but don't like the mobile version, I always use the regular desktop version. Which brings me to my own question: Is there any way for the site to remember which version (desktop or mobile) I am using? It stays correct for one session, but (even if I leave the window open, which I generally do) when I come back after a short absence it always reverts to mobile and I have to request the desktop version again. A small annoyance, but I thought I would ask.

Strangely enough I now have a 'floating' button at the top of my desktop screen also where I didn't before. I've had Windows 7 pushed by my customer in the last day or two so maybe that has something to do with it. Humm...
Thanks to bigbill for turning me on to the "Recent" button. Excluding the need to scroll to the top (no, I'm not as lazy as I sound; just trained by my customer's desire for speed) I like it... I think. I was hoping it would bring all the "new" (since last cleared?) folders to the top of the first page list but it seems that's not the case. I happened to hit "next" while on page one of 38 and found a "new" listing about halfway down that page which now makes me think I still need to go through each page. If that's actually the case then I'll probably stick with selecting the Vintage Trailer Talk tab and pick and choose the "new" folders from there and finish up with "all read" action if desired. Again, please know I'm not complaining just learning the ways of the site... and loving it!

A small annoyance, but I thought I would ask. The floating page buttons are default but may not be utilized by some due to browser type, settings or versions or may not be noticed by the user. Adding the requested bottom buttons was a simply fix. As for the "Desktop" view on mobile devices, the mobile view is default for mobile devices and it is not possible to make the desktop view the default for mobile devices through the Proboards sites as of yet. However, there is a way to set your android phone's browser to be seen by sites as a desktop browser and in doing so sites will default to "Desktop" and not "Mobile". If you do set your phones browser to default to "Desktop" and there are sites you prefer to browse in "Mobile" view, a work around would be if those sites happen to have a mobile URL such as m.wesbsite.com, mobile.wesbsite.com, website.com/mobile/ or website.mobi, then bookmarking them with mobile URLs will allow you to load the pages in mobile view. Note that websites will tend to load new pages and new sessions to what the default is set in your browser, as is already the case for you with the "Mobile" default. Also, depending on the device, these setting changes may reset if rebooted. So in short, there is likely a work-around but may be more trouble than what you are doing now. NM

Unfortunately Proboards isn't setup for it at this time.

I have been on here since very early on, so I just read the recent stuff that has been posted since my last visit that way I don't miss anything. I am usually on here 3 or 4 times a day.

So NomadicMe's reply seems to confirm that though I can, and now do, select the Recent button I still need to go through each page beneath whatever topic to ensure I don't miss any exciting thread, tidbit or words from " those that have gone before". I'll just keep my fingers crossed that Proboards makes that enhancement in the future -- because I've started to sneak in a quick peek at the threads a couple times a day now as a break from the daily work grind. Shhhhh.....!
