I recently purchased the license plate bracket which is supposed to be compatible with the #5 Bargeman license plate light. My question is, are the holes in the bracket supposed to line up with the mounting holes in the light? I made that assumption when I ordered it so was a little surprised when they didn't. Now I am thinking I simply mount the bracket then mount the light over it??? Pay no attention to the condition of the light, I still need to polish it up and replace the screws. The innards are in good shape. Yep, here are pictures:

Am I right in thinking this is the original light? It is clearly marked #5 Bargeman

Mine was the same way. I took a piece of 1 1/2 inch wide aluminum flat bar stock and cut a piece so that the tail light fit square upon it, and then drilled and bolted the light base to the aluminum and the plate holder to the new piece.

yeah, seems like mine didnt match the holes either, dont think it is suppose to, the grove on it is so it kind of fits around the bulb socket. it screwed into the aluminum and I think their might have been wood under it.

What I find interesting is the bracket holes match up with the light cover screw holes. Anyway, I will probably just mount the bracket then mount the light over it with sealant in between I put some good backing under the new skin so I should be good.

She's looking just great. These are the exciting times when you are this close to finishing. 2 years is about right. 3 sometimes if you have a full time job.
