Hello all: I am new to the forum and wanted to share a bit. Down here in Southern Arizona it feels like there are so few of us history haulers, but I just found out that is not true! I'd like to create a list of people and resources we can use locally when gussieing up our old girls. Anyone know of a list / source that already exists? Anyone interested in contributing? Cheerio!

Hi isheppard welcome to the forum. Where are you located? I am in Catalina just north of Tucson. I have a 1959 Shasta Airflyte restoration in process, a 1961 Shasta Airflyte used for storage for the last 20 years and a future restoration candidate, and a 1957 Kenskill 167 toilet model with restoration in process. I also recently parted out a 1959 Shasta Airflyte. I have acquired extra parts over the last few years and sell or trade from time to time.
I don't know if you are aware, the Arizona Roundup is coming up October 17-20 at Catalina State Park. We went last year and had a great time and met some awesome people. It is the only vintage trailer rally that I know of in the Tucson area. The person who organizes it annually is Gail Leggett. She and her husband have two Kenskills and will have both at the rally. For more information you can contact Gail at ggleggett@hotmail.com and put Spooktacular in the subject. You can also go to Arizona Roundup for information. There is quite a variety of trailers from teardrops to self contained. Hope you can make it if only to just hang out. Attendees come from all over the State. We don't have a trailer ready so we will be participating in the activities but commuting the 5 miles to and from home daily.

asshastanut I would love to see photos of your 57 Kenny. And when you go to the Catalina rally I'd really love it if you could photograph the Kennys that show up there. I have a 59 SC that I just started on and would like to see some others. Mine's an 18 foot, shower, toilet and full kitchen in the rear. Just put a new Norcold full size 3 way fridge in it. Do you have a blog of some sort?

Hi Larry, I don't have a blog and haven't figured the photo thing out, but sometime in the future I will get a grade schooler to help me out. I know there will be at least two Kenskills at the Arizona Roundup event, both owned by Gail Leggett and her husband. One is a 1957 Standard floor plan which they completely reskinned and polished. The other is as I recall the same as yours. As you probably know, information on Kenny's is hard to find. I love the 2x2 framing, but the drawback is that when water gets in it has twice as much area to rot. Our trailer was purchased new by one of my wife's shirttail relatives in Modesto,Ca. After their kids were grown and gone the trailer was relegated to an almond orchard adjacent to their equipment shop where Mexican farm laborers lived in it occasionally. The windows and drip rails, vent lid and storage door had all been removed. The windows were not to be found, but everything else was there. I was fortunate in that a fellow had parted out a 57T and advertised parts two years earlier. He lived in Las Vegas still had a the full set of windows as well as many other parts. Needless to say, I bought everything. Nobody else in the family wanted the trailer and they had decided to scrap it if I didn't want it. I however saw the potential and I took a set of wheels and new tires and tow lights with us to Modesto in July, 2012, just in case. After welding on a new coupler, packing wheel bearings, mounting new wheels/tires, hooking up tow lights, etc. we departed for Tucson. We had no problems and she towed beautifully. We stopped in Las Vegas and installed the windows, loaded up all of the additional parts and headed home. I have been slowly cleaning and polishing and prepping parts and putting them away for re-installation after all of the other repairs are made. Our daughter lives in Tustin and we get to Southern California a few times each year. I will plan on visiting you also on our next trip. Gary

Great Gary... I just made Ice Cubes in my new fridge yesterday... That's a first for me... LOL... Never owned a vintage trailer with a fridge like this before. I've owned a couple of new ones but never made ice cubes in a vintage trailer before. Funny how easily amused I am.
