We are planning to go to the TCT rally in Brookville Florida which is the last weekend in Feb. So wife says what the heck, let's go for the whole month!! Yes I love this woman. We are going to make it to St. Augustine for several days then .. who knows, and it's the reason for this thread. Anyone have must see places, and favorite campgrounds to visit in the winter while in Florida. We will for sure make a go of seeing the manatees probably in Silver Springs, and try and catch a Tigers game in Lakeland, but other than that we are open...Any help? Thanks.

If you are in St Augustine, and like wine, checkout San Sebatian winery. Also, there is a new gin distillery in town I want to checkout next time I'm down there, I've heard good things about it. Also, a little further south, Tomoka SP in Ormond beach is a favorite of ours. We have camped there several times. Blue springs is good for seeing manatees (so I've heard).. We have yet to get down there at the right time...which is right now.

I met my wife 31 years ago, she was 23 and I 33. I lived on a boat in Maine when we met. She had the great idea to take the boat to Florida,"for the winter". Well, we took about 4 months to get there and due to the realities of not enough money to go back to Maine, repairs to the boat, and unexpected other events, we ended up staying for 10 years, starting a business.
Southwest Florida was pretty nice back then, there were places we could anchor out for days without seeing other people. But then it got crazy, nowhere to escape from the people and noise, so we went back to New England. No regrets, and I admit I do enjoy a week in Key West in February most years. Years ago we camped at John Pennekamp State Park in Key Largo. Just beware that anyplace in wintertime Florida will be crowded and it'll be hard to make reservations. Enjoy the warmth!
