This is my furnace in a 64 Shasta 1500. I received the unit from the PO and it needed some repairs with spot welds having broken and some rust. Really, you say! I couldn't believe it either So here it is back in place. Fires up and works great, but... Where should this sensor be located? It was just wrapped around the heat exchanger with the probe sitting on top. PO said they didn't believe they had ever used the furnace so they didn't know. Hmmm? Can anyone help me out? Have some pictures? This unit really throws out some heat, it just does not seem to regulate itself.

the sensor senses the temp in the room, which works the thermostat, dont put it above it, if you do it will register the heat rising from the stove, and shut the heat off early, put it to the side and about 4 feet high if you can, if not as high as you can get it, if you mount it down low, it will keep it to hot (but this can be adjusted by setting the thermostat to kick off when you are comfortable), but the temp on the knob wont quite read right. and be sure not to kink the line. keep it away from drafty areas a well.

universal.. You mean this just goes on the wall? It is about 30" long and would go up the closet wall, but it just went out in plane view? That seems strange to do it that way. Do you have pictures of how it should look or be protected from getting knocked around? Am I missing some pieces?

yeah, its just made to be tucked away out of sight as best as possible, some heaters have clips on the back bottom part of the heater for it.
