The previous owners had an air conditioner in the middle of the front window which I have removed. I now have to fill that area with a glass frame but don't know how the glass frame is supposed to be attached to the window frame. Was there a metal frame that clipped it in? There are only 2 holes in the frame which doesn't seem enough to secure the glass frame to the window frame. Any ideas? Sorry haven't figured out how to post pics.

Hello Jeanette and welcome to VTT. There are a bunch of really great people on here who have lots of knowledge and are very helpful. I know that some will be very familiar with Shasta models and might be able to help without pictures, but you'll get much more help if you share pictures. Here is a very easy tutorial for sharing pictures from Flickr: vintagetrailertalk.freeforums.net/thread/7276/add-photos-hosted-flickr-tutorialThere are a couple of resources you should really check out. They are very helpful and full of all the information you could ask for about repairing or restoring these wonderful vintage trailers. The first resource is mobiltec. He makes videos and posts them on YouTube of his work sharing how to do everything on a trailer from start to finish. His website is: www.cannedhamtrailers.com and I recommend you watch this video first so you better understand why these things have to be repaired from the outside in: www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDdpZgSD1JM . He does all these videos for free to help others who are interested in vintage trailers, but he is needing to replace the engine in his van, so if it's possible for you, he does accept donations from his website if you find his information as important as I have. Next is a wonderful repair manual put together by another long time member who restores trailers, it's a husband and wife team and their forum name is vikx : vintagetrailerrepairmanual.weebly.com My husband doesn't do computers so this manual has become very important to him as we work to do a frame off restoration of our 57 Westerner Deluxe travel trailer. Hopefully Ross, vikx or mobiltec will pop on here and be able to give you more help than I have.

Thanks so much for all the help. I think I can post pictures now after the tutorial given by msgoehring. I also saw Mobiltec's video when he removed the metal glazing from a 55 Pleasure Craft. However, I don't have the metal glazing that is curved and wondered how to I get one made since I'm not sure what it looks like for this model? Let me see if I can get mobiltec to come over and check this out. He'll probably be able to tell what make that window is, then you could try emailing trailtrasher and see if he has glazing strips for it

You will need that metal glazing to repair that window. If you can find another junk trailer that has those kinds of windows or something close, if the metal glazing is there you can remove it and cut it down to size. Where do you live jeanette?

Thanks Mobiltec. I live outside Chattanooga TN. The tutorial from danrhodes was helpful. Just need the metal glazing. Sure looks like something you couldn't get at your neighborhood DIY store. Hubby is about ready to build the new frame for the front window then we're about ready to close up the front of the Shasta. Fingers crossed that the skin goes on without problems. Will have to put temporary closure in the open window.

Also, someone here made their own so if you had a piece, you could go to a sheet metal shop and they could bend some up for you.
