I think foam rolling is a great option. I ended up spraying and don't think my results are any better than turbodaddy's roller job, though it's certainly easier to get in every nook and cranny. One thing I read is to use a hardener if you want a glossier finish and it seemed to work well for me.

Well, I kinda like the look of a foam roller (9 inch smooth hot dog) paint job. I did our Friendship Vacationaire that way using good Sherwin Williams products including a primer made for aluminum (replaced roof with new mill finish aluminum) and an industrial semi-gloss latex enamel that wears like iron and holds up to scrubbing bugs and toad tar. Wasn't cheap, spent over $200 on paint and materials. Yes, there is an orange peel texture, but it is very consistently even. And, it seems to hide the small dents and imperfections. I'm planning to do the same system on my new scratch build project.
