Somewhere we have a list of things to take with you camping but I wanted to share how a few items came in really hand for us.
1. 12v air pump 2. Tire plug kit 3. a half used can of Fix a Flat
We were kayaking last weekend. I took our F150 and my friends had a Chevy truck. We have to take two vehicles for put in and take out. Our trip was over and fortunately, we had made it back to our put-in site with the kayaks to pick up my truck. My friends' truck had a flat and it was not a slow leak. It was almost on the ground flat! At first I found the half used Fix a Flat which seemed to do nothing. Then we aired it up with the 12v pump, slow process but it worked. We could hear the air leaking but couldn't see it. When it had enough air, we took off in search of a gas station. When we stopped, the Fix a Flat was oozing out the hole which proved to be a good thing. My friend had a tire plug kit and plugged it and we went happily on our way and ended our adventure as we had planned by stopping for pizza. All was good.
Now, why didn't my friend have a spare? Well, they carry it in the bed because it's so hard to take off out from under the truck. When they were loading kayaks they took it out (besides, what are the chances of having a flat?). And since I was in a Ford and they were in Chevy, my spare wouldn't fit.
And I do suggest a FULL can of Fix a Flat for emergencies.
Happy Camping!
Another item that comes in handy... a friend. Seems when we camp together, whatever one doesn't have the other one does. Team work.
