So whats the best ways to attach flooring? Is the plywood and wood joists both attached to the metal frame at the same time with carriage bolts? Or do you attach the wood joists with the carriage bolts and then screw the plywood to the wood joists? It's been a while and I seem to remember that the carriage bolts went through both the plywood and the wood joists as well as the plywood being nailed to the joists...
Thanks for the help as always!

Jose I did both, but with deck screws, not nails. I recessed the bolts in the field, but used large washers and hex bolts inside cabinets where it wouldn't show.

I go thru the first layer of 1/2 to 5/8 ply and the joists with the carriage bolts, inset heads. Then overlay the subfloor with smooth luan (3/16) to accept whatever flooring I choose.

I replaced a couple rusted carriage bolts with elevator bolts. They have a wide, flat head so they can "bite" more material. They seem to work well. Going to have to replace all my floor bolts soon I think.

I have glued the luan, but usually staple. The heads bury themselves, so they don't interfere with the flooring.
