I'm not sure ribs is the right nomenclature, but the cross ribs supporting the roof of my 15' Conestoga are, mostly' little box beams, with 3/4" in x 1.5" boards (flanges), one arched, one straight, boxed on the sides (panel webs) with thin plywood. There have been so many roof leaks over the years, the plywood is all delaminated. So, would the arched piece originally been on top, giving some water shedding camber to the roof? Or would the arched piece have been on the bottom?

Arch to the top. Gives the roof a little bit of curve, enough to cause sufficient runoff of water to avoid pooling.
