Very nice KOA camp ground north end of Jekyll Island with lots of shade. Nice restrooms with hot showers. Water, electric, sewer at each camp site. The beach is 8 miles long and a very short distance from the camp ground. Island has several restaurants, motels, grocery store, gas station, etc. Beach is very popular all day about 4pm everyone packs up and goes home so we had the beach to ourselves every evening. Water is warm and nice. Bicycle paths all over the island you don't need a car once your there. It was 551 miles one way = 1100 miles round trip from out house. We left the house at 12 noon drive 6 hours and spent the night at KOA along I-75. Next morning we drive 6 more hours arrived at Jekyll at 2 pm. We stayed 4 days check out is 12 noon so we drove 6 hours spent the night at KOA again then arrived home next day after another 6 hour drive. I should have taken more pictures. The Mexican restaurant was very good we had lunch there twice. They have bicycle and kayak rental. We took our own bikes you can ride 8 miles on the beach sand in the middle is like cement easy to ride on. Sand near that water is too soft for a bike and sand near the shore is dry powder too soft for a bike.

We've camped in KOAs from coast to coast and all have been clean, quiet, and safe.

Is it a short walk from the site to the beach?
is it called Jekyll Island KOA?
I wish there was a wooded campground on the beach in NC.

We were there as well (we live about 30 minutes away). Had a great time checking out all of the 70+ campers that were there. I'm already looking forward to it next year. We got some great "inspiration" to get things going on the shasta.
PS. Jekyll campground is not a KOA. BUT It is very nice, and the location is prime! Having said that, if you come in the summer be prepared for the heat. The trees seem nice, but they create a dead zone in the normally breezy area. July and August and you will COOK!
