Anyone up for a gathering in either North Carolina or South Carolina June 24-26, 2016?
Here are a few of our favorite on and their locations, both Privately Owned and State Parks:
North Carolina: Moonshine Creek Campground in Sylva, NC (near Asheville) High Rock Lake Campground and Marina in Lexington, NC (southwest of Greensboro) Raccoon Holler Campground in Jefferson, NC (near Virginia & Tennessee state lines)
South Carolina: Lake Wateree State Park (kinda between Rock Hill & Columbia) Chester State Park (south of Rock Hill)
This would be a simple gathering of VTT people and their vintage campers/trailers. Nothing really planned, activity wise, except a potluck dinner for that Saturday night, for those who would like to join.
Would love to hear any feedback about other campgrounds, too.
Hope to see some of you 'round tha campfire.........

No way! We got reservations for Moonshine Creek last 10 days of April, incidentally for a vacation we are planning. It seems to be a great campground, haven't been there yet. It would be amazing to see even a few of you guys! But I know you said June, bummer. I guess it means that's a nice place to stay. Hope you all have fun!

Our company is slammed right now and we won't be able to hit our first camping trip until the 4th weekend in June.
You will love Moonshine Creek. Hopefully you got a site right on the creek. Jim and Dana have redone all of the bathhouses and they are top notch! Great location to use as home base and do some site seeing. make sure you drop by the Balsam Inn, kinda on your way to Moonshine Creek.

I might be interested. I think NC would be more convenient for me, but I won't rule out SC. Would love to get together with some VTT members.

Thanks a lot, we actually did take Dana's suggestion and got a site on the creek! Your insight is making me even more excited. Thanks for the tips and feedback, I know you are posting this thread for those that can go in June, I appreciate it. And again, you guys have fun. Hope a good group comes up..

nccamper Keep checking back. Hopefully we will get some good feedback and get a few vintage trailers to attend. Either way, Carla and I are going camping that weekend, just depends where.

We are starting to lean more towards heading to Chester State Park in Chester, South Carolina. So far it is just me, Carla and our three 4 legged kids. Not to say that if there are others that want to join us, that we change venues........ Anyone else?

I think we will be in that area a few weeks later. If my wife is willing to make the trip twice in a month (doubtful) I'll let you know. Thanks again for the offer.

Bummer for us, but sounds like a wonderful plan.. My son is getting married that weekend.. We could still plan something near VA/NC at another time. P.S. Are you doing MerleFest this weekend? Could kick myself for finding out too late that John Prine is playing. I have a Sat. commitment and can't do. Next year, it's on my list.

It's getting pricey and we have a new addition to the family..An Aussie Shepard at 8 weeks was a little early for the party. My sister and her husband made it up and said it was a blast. We are making plans tonight to hit Douthat park in VA in either July or August though. Tatiana has seen very little of the Virginia's and I think that will be good place for base camp. See the Natural Bridge, snoop around a few other places. Do you know anything about the park? It looks quite right for place and time. New Bern is next week and we have a good crowd there. You outta drive down..

You know, I am not sure if I am alone here but the wife and I with camping reach our threshold right around 70 degrees, after that the experience is just too warm. Who wants to sweat by a fire? My fave camping days are any that require a sweater. Hehe. That's the best thing about the mountains, wont crack much past 75 in June even. Awesome. Wish we had that in FL. Hope you guys enjoy whatever is arranged, we just had our relaxing time in NC.
