I need to build a new garage, my 80 year old structure leans farther to the right each year! I was wondering if anyone could tell me if a shasta airflight will fit thru a 8 ft garage door. Thanks

PennyG, It should. It will be very close. It won't be possible with the trailer attached to a tow vehicle. 8' is 96". I've put my Airflyte in a friend's carport with a beam at 93" at the entry. The vent was the limiting factor. I had to take the front wheel off, put the jack tube on a low-clearance floor jack and use that to roll it in. It's going to depend on the slope of the apron in front of the garage and the actual height of the garage door when the door is up. You'll want to adjust the door so it opens as far as possible and probably have to remove the part that attaches the opener to the door. Others have made smaller wheels out of 3/4" or 1" plywood, smaller diameter than the regular trailer wheels, to gain a couple of extra inches. My new garage (with an 8' door) will be ready in early June. If you can wait, I'll have a better answer then!

pennyg , If you are building new from scratch, put a 10-foot door in. You won't have to worry about the Airflyte, or any possible future projects fitting.

Several years ago I told my wife a vintage camper costs about $2000.
Camper. Tools. Second camper. New Truck. Third camper. Etc.
ChaChing! $40,000
When I went for another $30K for a garage the Bank Of Wife stamped my request "Denied!"

Thanks, I'm just starting the planning stage. My garage keep getting bigger and more expensive each day1 Just want to make sure the airflight will fit in it. It would be nice to have a covered place to work on it.

Would have loved a garage for the Shasta. It was always my intention. Built a carport for it (we call it the Shastaport). The plan was to enclose it after a while. It never happened. Carport keeps it dry. Really wish it was in a garage though.
Our "new" 76 Apache is a hardside pop up so it does fit in the garage. I can pop the roof once it's in. Can't open the beds all the way. Garage is about 2 feet short.
I have dreams about a large detached garage with space for a workshop, storage and garages big enough for our camper, utility trailer, kayaks, toys, yard stuff.
Knowing me though I would fill it full of crap though. Just seems to be my nature.

Things that have a place but I lazily pile things up planning to "deal with it later". Later takes a while.

Nature abhors a vacuum. My girls abhor a vacuum, thus we have many piles of stuff everywhere. If I had the garage (barn) of my dreams it would be full of "stuff", but mine would be really worthwhile stuff.

My new garage (with an 8' door) will be ready in early June. If you can wait, I'll have a better answer then! It's finally time to revisit this question. Our Airflyte went into her new home yesterday, through an 8' garage door. It was very close. The good news - it went in with all the air in the tires and hitched to the truck. The bad news - the vent touched the vinyl garage door seal - it was that close. Also, the truck had a yard of wood chips in the bed - without the wood chips the suspension would have been less loaded and the ball would have been a little higher. Next time we'll put a 2'x3' piece of plywood down outside the garage apron and unhitch the trailer before the vent enters the garage, then push the trailer into the garage on it's own little wheel - we'll have more clearance that way.

Yas, Beautiful garage. I want one in a big way.
What size is it? Something like 32x24?
Any advice to offer us? Is there anything you would have done differently?

I have total garage envy. Ours is "finished", as in built, and with most of the lighting in. We still have yet to hook up the heat. We went as big as we possibly could without hauling in thousands of loads of fill to build up the ground. We went 30x40 with 12' walls and 10' doors. It's full already.
