Do I put any screws in it? I think the answer is no... But I watched several of mobiltec's videos, but am having a hard time remembering all of the specifics. So I thought I'd get it in writing.
Here is what I *think* I do... We attach the roof to the front of the trailer with a rail that Steve (Hemet Valley) provided with the roof. He said this isn't traditional in old travel trailers, but that it's a good way to do it. We do screw that down to a 1x4 with putty (and it goes on top of the metal). Then when we pull the roof sides over to where the j-rail is going to be, and we staple those in on the sides under where the j-rail will be.
Then I pull the roof down over the back (we are replacing the back, too). We have pittsburgh locks, so we staple the underside of those to the wood. We put the pittsburgh locks together (no need for putty tape). But do I put screws in with the staples on the underside of the pittsburgh locks?
Okay, then we take the bottom of the metal to the underside of the trailer and wrap it around about 1 inch. We can screw and staple that in (on the underside).
Then we put the j-rail on and screw that in.
Okay... So is this right? Should there be any screws anywhere else?
Thanks in advance!

Sounds about right to me... My '76 only had the bottoms of each skin joint stapled in, no screws. The only screws I had in the skin were through the very bottoms of both front and rear, into the subfloor frames (not counting windows, vents and j-rail, of course). I would think the screw heads would interfere with sliding the P. locks together. But I've never worked on one of the older ones, so I'd wait for some folks with similar models to chime in...

I thought that would be true about the p locks, too. I thought it was just staples, but got to thinking about it last night and wanted to make sure. Thanks!

Any time! One thing about the staples in these old things though, they're a lot longer than the typical T-50 staples that go in the typical silver staple gun. In mine they were a good inch long, where the longest T-50 I've seen is 9/16, I think. They had a lot more grab in the wood, so you might consider putting two staples where there once was one, if you don't have the longer ones available.

I use 3/4 inch staples all around the curbing where you fold the metal over the sides, front and rear. I also use 3/4 inch staples underneath the P locks or S locks. The lower panels that insert into the locks covers that up. I don't use screws anywhere near the S or P locks except the side of the curbing and even then I don't staple the actual lock. Screws are used at the bottom of the front and rear panels. If you use staples they will eventually pull out from the wood.
