Do you have a photo? I'm curious. So I have done some more research and it seems like the earlier model compacts frames were made like this. Still doesnt make since to me how the back corners are supported or where I should put the back jack stands. I stole Lola53 photo and edited it to look like my frame in photoshop

My trailer also had zero frame behind the axle. The rear portion just cantilevers off the front, and the floor is held up by the walls. Yours at least has the center joists where mine had no joists and actually the rear part of the floor wasn't even tied in to the front. Here you can see the entire rear area (disregard the cardboard filler, that was my own special hell) is floppy and broken as the rear corners of the trailer had rotted out. Kind of reinforces what people say about repairing them correctly, with the birch sandwiched between the walls and floor...it's strong enough to hold up the entire rear (that you really don't walk on anyways) without a frame.

And I KNOW there is a horizontal piece across the back welded to those pieces behind the wheel. I KNOW it's there because I would tie my tarp tie-down ropes around it. Maybe they figured out it needed the frame extended to the rear and added them in by 62.

SusieQ that sounds like your probably right. After I took out my benches to fix, I noticed that when I walk in the 2 back corners of the trailer It seemed like there were soft spots on both sides, but maybe it is just because there is not much support over there. I wont really be walking there when the benches go back in and the back middle seems solid. So Ill need to investigate more on if I need to replace any of the floor in the back.

Wow danrhodes that's crazy, did you add something to beef it up? or no? Yeah.. Before After Was a special case for my thin cardboard floor trailer though. For a compact, I'd leave it alone

That was my exact symptom. Fixing the skirt boards and floor should be enough for you
