Hi All,
I'm new here - first post. Looking forward to having fun and working on the Shasta with my son - our first father-on project. It's a '63, based on the date stenciled on the side of the sink. It's pretty complete considering, and the floors are solid. Some water damage but very little rot in one corner.
The serial number on the title states P1367 which is also on stamped on the tongue. The house paint on the exterior adds a nice touch, right?
Thanks for all the awesome info on this site too!
Howdy Dogtown. Welcome to our asylum... Your Shasta looks like it's in pretty good shape and un-abused. House paint isn't a problem unless you want to remove it. If you decide to do that it will take some elbow grease. Just don't sand blast it. Can we see some photos of the inside?

I would recommend Flickr because Photobucket is so heavy in ads it tends to freeze people's computers, it sure has mine. One of our members put together this great tutorial on how to post pics from Flickr, you should give it a try: vintagetrailertalk.freeforums.net/thread/7276/add-photos-hosted-flickr-tutorialI know there are others who own a Gold Star trailer. Maybe once you get your pictures ready you'll go to the "Talk about your trailer" board and introduce yourself and your trailer. I think you'll find there are lot of great people on here who are very happy to help with any questions you have.

Hi all,
New to the forum but I have had my 1981 Perris Pacer for about 8 years. It has stood the test of time for sure. There are things that have been fixed and things that need to be fixed. Some parts are easier to find and some things are harder to do. So I figured that reaching out to all of you here would be a good idea. I will probably go and post my questions in the proper thread but I just wanted to say hi. Here is a pic of my rig! Happy to be here.

Thank you! mobiletec Thank you for all the videos. I have what I think is a Shasta, not sure if that is a good thing anymore from all the negative on how they built them. I bought it for $300 figuring if it doesn't work out I'm not out much. I did gut it and am rebuilding from the inside out... I know you posted I amdoing it wrong but don't have a large area to strip it. I took off the roof and replaced the joists, the paneling and the floor which was bolted through the stringers on the floor and sound board. I thickened up the floor with all new sound board and new treated ply. Reseated the new stringers and replaces the rotted 2x2s and beefed up the front and back bottom with treated 2x6 to secure to the frame. I am making this for family comfort rather than vintage as many people may cringe, I'm sorry. I'm using pvc/fiberglass panels that are waterproof and won't rot along with screws that wont rust or loosen like the original nails and those aweful bow tie/clutch screws they used in the past, God I hope I never see another one of those in my life. Any suggestions or information on my camper is welcome, as I stated it is to be a family retreat, not a retro glamper. I'll be asking more questions when I can load pictures but for now, Thank you in advance. Daniel

Also I forgot to mention that you might want to create a new thread under the talk about your trailer heading. You'll get more people looking at a new thread rather than posts on a old thread that hadn't been active for awhile. Make sure you include your pictures cause they really help with identification, and if you can find the vin, which is usually lightly stamped on the tongue and you'll need to use a wire brush or steel wool to lightly remove any rust and/or paint covering it, that may also help.

I don't know what that is. The floor tiles are a match for Shasta but lots of trailers were built back then. Any of the manufacturers had access to those tiles. Good luck on your build. Keep watching the videos... and welcome to our mad house...

Nice trailer. I had the same floor tiles in my '58 Easy Traveler built in Elkhart Indiana. There are definitely some similarities. What does the title say? It took me 16 years to figure out my "ESTRA" was a Easy Traveler. I think the door has been replaced. The closest match I have found so far for the tiles is Marmoleum "Compressed Time"

They abbreviate the name using a few letters from each word. My Westerner was named a "WESTA" on the title.

Greetings. Another Noob here who went out and scratched the Trailer itch on a spur of the moment and is now trying to figure it all out. I've wanted a little camper for years, but everything I could find advertised was either across the country, already renovated (and too pricey), or dirt cheap and more work than I'm comfortable with. This one fell into my lap via Twitter, of all things. Someone saw it parked on the street and Tweeted it out, someone else that I follow Re-Tweeted, I saw that message and asked the OP where the trailer was .. and as luck would have it .. it was parked on a street within ONE MILE of my home. What are the odds? Less $$ than a fully restored, more $$ than a complete shell, but when the seller said he'd bring it to my house for me (because my vehicle doesn't have a tow hitch), I couldn't pass on it. So, there she sits in my driveway and now the real research begins. I'll be digging around on these boards for any and all advice, tips, and hints I can get. I'm so happy to have found this incredible resource! If anyone knows a reliable, experienced person in the Los Angeles area that would be good to hire for bits and pieces (like repair/replace windows, etc.), please let me know.

Nobody better then Larry @ Mobiltec if he isn't to busy and getting ready to move. He's on this site, but you can't send him a Personal Message because you haven't been on the site long enough.
