In Shastas and some other trailers? Well I just found out that the horizontal wood brace under the window is very much needed. Without it the table will push that wall in and out quite a bit. Tears up the front of the trailer including the metal. This 66 Super had no brace and the front wall is very flimsy and all pushed out. The metal was damaged pretty bad from it happening over the years.

I wondered about that myself, some have it, some don't. Shastas tend to have fewer cross boards than some.

I'll photograph the damage caused by not having it.

The two Shasta camper I've owned also have a metal brace on the framing to support the table. A flat piece 3/4" to make the framing rigid. I think it was the only thing holding the front wall together on the 1500.

I added another horizontal board an two sets of vertical braces to my 1500 below front window. It had stretched the front aluminum also.

Thanks for mentioning this. My trailer has it, and its ugly and I was wondering about removing it. I have settled on a design where its hidden under a storage area I am going to add before the table. But its good to know that it is necessary!

Ya that thing is WAY important. I had no idea how flimsy it was without it.

Since I haven't repaneled that section up yet, I think I'll just put an extra piece of wood or two in there. Thanks for mentioning it.
