Our 1st, 2nd, 3rd camper the 12v water system was nothing but trouble, they all pumped water about as fast as I can pee. We never knew if the water storage tank was clean so we never trusted it for drinking water. We had to winterize it in cold weather then clean it out in spring. Lots of work all the time.
All the campers we owned after that had NO 12v water system. They did not work so I trashed them all. We never missed it. We still don't miss it. Now our camper is lighter weight and has more storage space without it.

The 4008 Shurflo is powerful enough for a good shower.

The 4008 Shurflo is powerful enough for a good shower. Sounds like my kinda pump ;-) When I get it installed, I may ask you about adjusting the by-pass setting. Thanks.

Here's a link to the manual for the 4008: www.hannarv.com/Content/files/water-pumps/SHURflo-4008-101-E65-4008-Series-RV-Fresh-Water-Pump-Installation-Manual.pdfIt bypasses water from the pump back to the inlet in varying amounts. I think it contributes to creating a smoother flow of water and less pump cycling, even when the fixture goes down to a trickle or is very restricted. Some pumps utilize a pressurized accumulator tank in order to accomplish that. For the 4008, there is a set screw to make the adjustment. From what I've read, most users don't seem to be aware of that adjustment and the pump works fine for them… some not, and adjustment needs to be made or the pump can cycle on at unwanted times. See the section "Operation" in the manual for more information.

And thus why I am not in the plumbing business LOL..
About The By-Pass NOTE: By-pass adjustment should be performed by professional technicians with proper
gauges and equipment.

Forget the gauges and equipment… I think you just tweak the adjustment screw until the symptoms they describe go away. Then you send yourself a bill for $100

So new to this...learning the 12v thing. So, the water pumps (kitchen/toilet) work off the 12v yes? We got a free 1997 Layton (I know, not vintage, but fun for cheap camping, and you know that FREE part made it attractive.) that we've been working on the electrical. There was some funny stuff that went on before we got it...(Really, it's why we got it for free.) At first nothing worked. No AC no DC. So far we've gotten all the DC except 1/2 of one socket. AC all is working (Light is on in fridge and we are waiting to see if it chills. Which is HUGE since they claimed it was dead as a post.) EXCEPT....No water pumping to anywhere. None in kitchen or bath. Can here the converter humming, but not the pump. (And yes, there is water in the tank...but thanks for asking ) Nothing in the bathroom. No lights, fan, pumps etc. Is that all 12v? And if so, why would everything else work but nothing in the bathroom. Connection? Water heater is definitely dead. It looks like a big ball of corrosion. I have sourced a new one. Any help appreciated. Ginger & Jerry

OK for one thing, make sure you have a new 12vdc battery installed. When the battery goes bad all kinds of weird things begin to happen. Everything can't run on just the converter. So start there and let me know what happens.

Battery is Aug 2016 and is reading that it's putting out 12v. The other one has to be replaced.

There may be a hidden fuse panel somewhere between the battery and the rest of the trailer. There also may be fuses on the 12-volt side inside of the converter. I suggest checking there, because it really could be that simple.

Ohhhhh.... That happened with our house furnace.
We went for 4 years with no heat (In Bend, OR) because there was a fuse behind the box that we couldn't see.
$3.79 all fixed. 🙄

Questions.. So far we've gotten all the DC except 1/2 of one socket. What does that mean?
As far as the pump is concerned... Have you looked at it and it's wiring? Might be a fuse right by the pump. Inline. Maybe the pump is no good. Many times there is a switch somewhere like near the sink that turns the pump on. You may also have to find a handle that needs to be turned to go from shore water to pumped water... All those things must be checked...

Ok . We'll check those things. Nothing in the bathroom works but the electric socket. No pump, no lights. Kitchen pump not working either. Everything else is working.
(Except the water heater was so corroded that we yanked it, so we don't know about that.)
Thanks for all the tips. We're out now so can't check any of them yet. Ginger
