Anyone buy it at their Home Depot? Mine doesn't carry, and their web page doesn't even seem to offer it. Are most folks buying at a local tile store?

Lowes is a better place to buy it but if you go to HD and beg the manager of floor sales to bring up the samples you can look at them and pick it out. The black is sort of a speckled black. Off white speckles in it. White is not solid white either. Has off white and gray and blue and even yellow speckles in it. Looks like black and white once laid though. Doesn't show dirt as well as pure black and white would show.

I agree that Lowes may be better option but I bought Armstrong tiles from Home Depot. Go to the flooring department and ask them about special ordering the one you want. But first... If you register at the Armstrong link below they will send you as many free samples as you want. www.armstrong.com/commflooringna/order_samples_search.jspPut "Camper Restoration" or something like that for the business type.

The install was easy, but we are a little worried about the weight... Probably added 50-100 lbs. Over peel and stick vinyl, I think they are more durable, have a deeper look with wax and are very forgiving for damage... The color goes all the way through. We would have considered sheet vinyl or peel and stick but didn't find any locally that we liked as much.

That was a fast response thanks Dan and great photo there! Incidentally, the peel and stick vinyl tiles are in my camper now from previous owner. But I think VCT are what was in these older campers originally it seems, from the photos I have seen of the different ones. Lending itself also to this being the best choice. I mean also, if schools put it in for students and desks and chairs for daily use, that days a lot too. But I was also wondering.. would Lowe's and Home Depot have them? From this thread it seems like special order item.

I figured it out after posting, but can't delete using Tapatalk mobile. VCT is probably closer to what was originally used than any other product... Home depot has a dozen colors, but strangely black is a special order

My fault sir. Not a problem, ok I follow you. It certainly does seem the closest. At my HD I have to special order as well. So funny...

What was originally used as far as tiles are concerned were not VCT. (vinyl composition tiles) They were much thinner 9 inch tiles and were made from asbestos type material. They were glued down usually over a felt like black underlayment. That underlayment is fun to get up. I have a video on that subject that makes it a bit easier to remove.
The sheet vinyl that they used was marmoleum which was very durable as long as you kept it dry.

Well thankfully the asbestos tiles are long gone in mine, so that's no issue with me.. your videos are quite informative. I wonder if the glue you buy for putting the VCT tiles down are just as much of a pain to work with.

The floor is probably the easiest thing you will do to your trailer and is not done until near the end unless you do like Danrhodes and completely remove the trailer box first. VCT is very easy to work with. Most people do it all wrong though because they don't bother to see how the professionals do it. I learned from a 30 year professional and I actually read the instructions on the glue can. No one ever does that.

I read the tub and the install went pretty easily. Sticky stuff if you aren't tidy
