Internet has been kinda spotty, maybe when we get home I'll post a lot more about our trip. Sort of bittersweet today in that we have turned around, heading east thru southern Arizona and New Mexico...Texas tomorrow. We're hoping to be in Boothbay, Maine for Thanksgiving. That is a lot of miles, and I'm not sure we'll make it. The trip has been awesome with just a few anxious moments, especially the ones where we'd planned to arrive someplace before dark but didn't. Hardly anything worse than driving uphill in mountains, in the dark to some place you are totally unfamiliar with, only to find you are the only people there and there isn't a place to turn around.
Then there was Winslow,AZ where it was blowing a steady 40 mph. We forgot to lock the truckbed cover and as I was turning around in a parking lot the wind caught the cover and it opened, creating a very nasty wound in the front of the camper. A roll of aluminum flashing and some of my beloved "Eternabond" tape made fro a fine temporary repair. All in all, this has been a really fun and enlightening adventure that I hope others will have an opportunity to experience. We've logged about 5040 miles so far.

Sounds like a great trip and one many of us still wait to take. I think a few 'OOPS' can add to the adventure if you're prepared for them, as you are. Here's hoping your turkey day (or is it lobster day) happens right where you want it to.

It sounds like your having a fun trip. There is a lot to see in AZ you could spend a month there, don't leave too soon it is a long drive back. Route 66 is fun, monument valley, tombstone, Bisbee gold mine tour, lots of old ghost towns, steam locomotive ride, grand canyon, fish creek, tortilla flats, Oatman, Williams, Winslow, meteor crater, Glen Canyon, Hoover dam, Roosevelt dam and lake, more.
Maine is a long drive that would probably be 10 days drive for use we don't get in any hurry. Arcadia National Park is very nice. The old 1800s sail boat ride is fun, kayak to the islands is fun. Maine has 1000s of island more are small. Food is good but expensive. Check out CJs ice cream shop they have 75 flavors. Rent bicycles and ride all the trailers in ANP. The old light houses are interesting. The small old towns are interesting too and good food at good prices.
