I am in the process of painting my 66 Shasta. I am simply cutting in with a paint brush and rolling out the rest. My question is does anyone have an easy way to paint around the large Shasta emblem on the front of the trailer. It doesn't look very good painting around it with a brush. It looks like some sort of stick on emblem. Here it is in the photo.
I was thinking of maybe putting paper over it, rubbing the outline and cutting a pattern to cover it and just roll over it.
Any thoughts?

I have been doing some searching on line and I actually can buy a new decal. That might be the way to go. I am just wondering how hard it will be to remove the old one.

I was going to suggest a new one. They're cheap. Check one of these out: planetoftheteeshirts.weebly.com/shasta-decals.htmlwww.customvintagetrailerparts.com/CustomVintageTrailerParts.com/Decals.html#52"Exterior decals are designed to be applied over hard gloss surfaces and may not adhere well over latex house paint." Are you using Latex paint or oil based? How to take the old logo off depends on the paint around it. If you don't mind sanding the area I would use Jasco stripper. Other people like the orange stripper at Home Depot because it's not toxic. (That usually means it doesn't work as quickly.) The old logo has never come off easily for me so I'm not sure how to do it without the chemicals.

Thanks ncamper. The paint is latex. I should have done this before painting. I would be ok sanding the new paint around the decal. Concerning the stripper I am afraid it will mess up the whole paint job. It is newly painted from the top of the camper to the bottom of the window.

Tricky situation. If you mask off just the area right around the sticker you may be fine with Jasco. It's a semi paste. Use some heavy paper under half the tape, the other half sticking to the camper. Basically creating a protected area. Maybe a tarp under the sticker against the camper as well.
But put Jasco on in very think coats, let it sit a few minutes then wipe off. Repeat. You may need a plastic scraper from Lowes or Home Depot. Make the coast thin enough so it doesn't run. Practice on something first like a piece aluminum. When done, clean with a rag damp, not wet, with mineral spirits. Again, making sure none runs. Repeat. Repeat again. Then clean it with soap and water. Repeat.
If you try it, be careful when taking tape off new paint. Pull back against itself, not up.
If your hand is steady and you use an artist paint brush you might be able to cut in close enough to make the sticker on the camper now presentable. How good is good enough is a very subjective call only you can make.
Somebody else may have another suggestion.
