If you know of any rally dates for 2016 which you would like included on our VTT calendar, send them to me and I will list the name of the rally on the date/month page of the calendar that is being created for our group. If you don't know about the calendar, check the "Talk About Anything" section; it's pinned to the top of that section.

Where is the VTT calendar page? We want to sign up for several rallies. Ok, maybe I didn't word that very well. I didn't mean a calendar page for the forum, I meant the calendar I'm having printed. There are site which list vintage trailer rallies. Check the Tin Can Tourists and Vintage Trailers websites. You are welcome to organize a rally for our group in your area.

The rallies are very disappointing there is nothing close to use in TN or central USA. Out west, NM, CA, UT, CO, MT, 1500 to 2500 mile drive. FL and TX 1000 mile drive. Several in MI another 1000 miles drive. There is 1 in north GA about 200 from us but we almost can't get there from here, that is a 10 hour drive through the mountains 15 mph to 30 mph from Dayton TN to Hiawassee GA. If we drive around the mountains east or west it is still 10 hour drive. The 10 hour drive is beautiful, 100s of places to stop, streams, water falls, camp grounds, almost heaven. I will call tomorrow about the GA rally. I like MI I could spend 2 months camping there. I have camped all over the USA for the past 10 years in search of better places to camp, I still think TN has the best camp grounds. Maybe we should start a rally in the central part of the eastern USA.

I missed the Hiawassee rally this past summer but I went to the previous one. It's about 7 hours from me. There is a Southeastern Tin Can Tourist Facebook page and the group promotes rallies for those in NC, TN, GA, VA, AL, MS and FL.
I'll message them and see if I can find some info on upcoming events.

Gary, there are quite a few members not too far from you. I think a Tn rally would be fun. Post here and elsewhere. I'll bet there's some interest.

I have never been to a rally, we can hardly wait to go to some they sound like fun. How do people get rallies started? Fall Creek Falls State Park in TN would probably be a good place for a rally. All the camp sites have electric and water $20 per night during peak season and $25 a night if you want sewer hook up. There are 5 camp areas, A, B, C, D, E. Camp area B has 93 camp sites and 11 camp sites in area A are next to area B. That equals 114 camp sites. Area A and E are next to B. Off season is Nov to April. It costs us $42 for 2 days in peak season and $28 for 2 days if it is not peak season. Camp ground is full on the weekends Fri to Sunday. There are lots of camp sites available during the week except summer when school is out. They have very nice bathrooms, flush toilets and nice heated showers. They have water falls, streams, lakes, hiking trailers, bicycle trails, canoe, row boat, and kayak rental, swimming in the streams, pools, lakes. 3 swinging bridges, loop drive around the park, over looks, there are lots of eagles that nest in the park, deer that come right up to your camper you can feed them and pet them, squirrels, birds, and more then after dark you get to see different animals. Tons of free fire wood just drive 2 miles down the road and pick up all the dead fallen tree limbs you can find, don't forget your saw and axe. There is also one a nice restaurants with excellent food that over looks the lake. There is a nature center, camp ground store, and more. Camp area A has a play ground for the children. There are several handy cap camp sites too. There are also cabin rentals on the lake you can fish out the back door off the deck. There is also a 50 room motel attached to the restaurant. Falls Creek Falls is named after the big 300 foot water fall. There are small islands on the lake it is fun to explore the tiny islands in the canoe. Some of those islands are no larger than my yard at home and they had deer on them, I guess the deer must swim out there. If it is not peak season it is easy to get a camp site on weekends. I have about 30 camp sites marked on the map that we like so I can call in 3 weeks early and make a reservation of one of them. We don't want to be far from one of the 7 nice bath houses and we like being where we can talk to our camping neighbors. We are going camping tomorrow, weather is nice, 60 degrees and sunny. TN has about 50 or so very nice camp grounds some are State Parks some are Natural Wild Like areas and not sure what others are called. Big South Fork National Recreational area plus Picket State Park have 100s of hiking trails some of the trails have camp sites, there is a place near Honey Creek that has 8 drive in camp sites on the river with restrooms. There are about 100 different places to camp in TN. Foster falls at Monteagle Mountain has its own camp ground with nice bathrooms and hot showers. There are several camp grounds in the Smoky Mountains I still want to camp at the camp ground at the top of the mountain about 5000 feet elevation. Check out this link, 100 of the best camp sites in Tennessee. www.tripleblaze.com/best/?c=97 We live here and we go camping every week and we still have not camped in all these camp grounds but we will.

Gary, if your organize a rally, I will drive to TN. I looked up Falls Creek Falls State Park when you posted your first pics here. I would love to go there. It's only a short distance out of the way from the trek I take to go "back home."
As to how you go about it, well, it doesn't have to be a huge vintage show production. Just find a few people interested and available on a certain date. Gage the interest for it here. Some campgrounds will let you make plans in advance by saving a loop of sites for a certain time to give people in the group a chance to reserve them. Others make you pay up front to reserve. And for small gatherings where the campground is not crowded year round, people just make their own reservations in advance. Most rallies have common gatherings, like a pot luck and then an afternoon to look at each others trailers (or invite the public if it's a huge rally).
I say if you can find even two or three more people willing to make plans, go for it. As it gets near, more people will be interested and there's always those who plan ahead and then can't make it, too.

I say if you can find even two or three more people willing to make plans, go for it. As it gets near, more people will be interested and there's always those who plan ahead and then can't make it, too. First I need to know the dates of other rallies to try and find a time where people will be available to come to a TN rally. Then decide on a Date for the rally. We need a calendar that shows all the other rallies.
Question. Are rallies usually on the weekend or in the middle of the week or the whole week or what?
Are the people that come to rallies still working jobs or retired?
How many days does a rally last?
March, April and maybe May weather will be cool and nice.
June, July, August will be hot, 100 degrees and 100% humidity.
Fall weather is nice too.
We love winter camping. It is nice to wake up to find 6" of snow that was not there yesterday.
What weather do rally people like best?
Also might need to know if anyone wants sewer hook up?
Here is a map of the camp ground. I added numbers to B cul-de-sacs 1 to 7. I added number to E also. For a small group of 25 or less E would be good everyone would all be within about 400 feet of each other. Area B4 and B5 would be good there are 15 camp site from 103 to 117. I circled all the camp sites that are almost prefect flat very easy to park and set up. I put stars on camp sites we like best. We like all of E so I did not waste my time putting stars on every one of those camp sites. Camp area D is for the big 40 foot long RVs and 40 foot Trailers. Area C is for groups like Boy Scouts and Church groups, everyone will be very close together there but not much shade with few trees. Camp area B2 cul-de-sac 61 to 65 is at the bottom of a steep hill very nice quiet spot flat at the bottom.
We will be there tomorrow I will ask about groups.
Fall Creek Falls is very nice, it is on the west end of the Smoky Mountains, we like it better than the smoky mountains. We love all the streams and water falls. If people are driving a long way to come here they might want to stay longer than a 2 day weekend.

Check SVTF aka Southern Vintage Trailer Friends. Kim Hoke runs it and they have rallies all over the southeast. She is also a great resource. She has a pretty good calendar of events. TCT would be the other rallies in the southeast.
My wife and I started the Riverbend Hiawassee, GA Rally a few years ago and had to pass the reigns due to other responsibilities. It was a difficult decision in a hard time for us, but our good friend Pete took over for us and more than doubled attendance this year and has even more booked for next year!!! We were able to attend this year and had great time.

Do you have a link for SVTF only thing that comes up is the exhaust system for a Ford car.
Southern Vintage Trailer Friends, Google keeps finding something unrelated in California.
