Hi Everyone- New on Vintage Trailer Talk but happy to be here. Thanks in advance for the help.
I recently purchased canned ham type trailer- have no paperwork except Bill of Sale (ugh...long story).
The serial number on the registration sticker (on license plate) reads: SM661323 The stamped serial number on the side of the tongue seems to read: 72SM661323
1966 and 13' could be correct, but does anyone know what the SM stands for?
Thanks in advance.

We're trying to figure out the make and model. I cannot find any other identifying marks except the VIN- but I'm a newbie at this so maybe I don't know what I'm looking for. Was hoping the VIN/serial could help with that.

Welcome um, Erin! I hope that's your name...
Might be an *S* (Siesta, Sport, etc), then *M* (model) 1966 and so on. The thing is, the trailer appears older than 66 to me. Also, the VIN would NEVER be on the license plate. That is probably the sticker #. Odd that it is repeated on the tongue. Sometimes, an inspector will assign a # that has nothing to do with the trailer brand or VIN.
Please post some clear pictures of both sides, the front and rear. I think we can help.

Hey Vikx, Thanks so much for the reply! The full VIN is on the trailer tongue and partial is on the registration sticker on the license plate. However, I was able to find out a more from the DMV today. Woo hoo! Apparently, they have "her" listed as a 72 SARC travel trailer- which, I believe, is an abbreviation for Starcraft?? I can't find any photos of a '72 Starcraft that isn't a pop-up! Wondering if it is a rebuilt canned ham on a Starcraft base- it seems t0 have an unusually large tongue? Anyway, thanks for responding! Well on our way to having a bonded title now, thank goodness! I'll try to get some more photos up. Erin

Your body is definitely older than 1972. It could be a homebuilt using an old body.
I believe Starcraft would be abbrieviated STARC?
