I checked my wheel bearings today and repacked them with grease. One of the brake pad springs is broken. Where can I buy a new spring? Vintage camper supply says they don't have it but maybe I don't know the correct name for this spring. Photo turned out blurred no time to take another photo that 80% chance of rain just came true.
Spring is at the bottom under the electro magnet.
I jacked up the wheels gave them a good spin then connected a small 2 amp battery charger to the #10 wires and the wheels came to a sudden stop. Electric brakes work. Ebay has several controllers some are called timed controllers, what is that and what makes the controller work? Something has to tell the controller I am putting on the brakes.

Most people these days just swap out the whole brake assembly with a new one.....They come in various sizes at trailer places or NAPA (where I work)

Not sure where you are located, but Redneck trailer also has brake parts. As poncho62 said, in the long run it is better to just replace the brake backing plate complete assemblies, they come with all new parts, then you won't be nickel dimed to death, as parts are more costly than the whole assembly. I use etrailer.com a lot for backing plate assemblies, they are fast shipping and good to work with. Not sure what a timed controller is, maybe someone else will chime in with help. Roger

Here you go from etrailer.com A proportional brake controller senses how the tow vehicle is slowing or stopping and applies the trailer's brakes with the same intensity. So if you slam on the brakes in your tow vehicle, the controller will activate your trailer's brakes just as forcefully. With a proportional controller, you can adjust the initial braking power and aggressiveness based on your trailer's weight and your braking preferences.
A time-delayed brake controller activates the trailer's brakes with a preset intensity (power output) and rate of application (sync), both of which are determined by you. With this type of controller, there is a delay between the time that you initially apply the brakes in your tow vehicle and the time that the controller reaches maximum power output to the trailer's brakes. However, this delay can be adjusted with the sync setting. I have always used a proportional brake controller, so didn't know about the timed one, and will never use them because of the delay. When I hit the brakes, I want action. Roger

I am of the opinion that both unit are basically the same, they just have a different method of adjustment. The end result is the same if properly adjusted. I feel that the fewer adjustments the better for most people. They both are inertia controlled/activated.

Tomorrow I take my vehicle and camper to Midway Trailer Sales. New P3 brake controller $68 plus labor $65 installed. They have shelves full of complete electric brake assembly's, tires, axles, trailer, parts, service. Tomorrow afternoon we will be ready to go camping but not going until about Wednesday. Saturday morning yard sales, then Bell Buckle fall festival. Lots of good food, drink, art, craft, quilts, music, fun all weekend. Sunday we are off to Helen GA for the month long German Oktoberfest. Music, dance, music food, music, pastries, food, music, donuts, food, parade, food, music, and plenty of good German Beer. Beer puts me to sleep so I need to be careful not to miss the festival. Wed we go camping until Sunday. 9 days of fun and weather man says, sunny and no rain.
