I will be putting a 30amp “service” in my rebuild. It currently has this vintage power inlet. Having never RV camped, I was wondering what a 30amp 120v power inlet should look like. I could only find the standard 15 amp inlet described on these pages. On the web there seems to be a few different types. What is the best type for North American campgrounds? Is there a standard? The nema number is better because an electrical distributer will be much cheaper than an RV store.

Modern 30 amp RV inlets are made by Furrion or Marinco. They are very sturdy but also require heavy adapters and cords. Safer than the old days, able to carry the amp load.
I really appreciate your old inlet. Unfortunately, the "plug in" part is no longer available. Most original plugs are worn out.

After googling many campsite hookup images, it appears all campsites provide a 30amp TT30 connection. It also looks like the most common RV 30 amp extension cord is TT30 male to TT30 female. Thus I will put a TT30 male power inlet in my trailer.
Vikx thanks for the input. You are right, it is a beauty. I will try to hack a TT30 into it. It is currently sitting in a jug of vinegar.

That furrion inlet is beautiful. That one is a nema l5-30. What extension cord did to use to hook into up to a campground tt-30?
My problem with buying RV parts is the 49th parrallel and all the taxes, duties and craziness levied once you cross that line.

I have a power inlet on my 1959 Shasta that has three "bars" or blades - not two bars/blades and a round thing. One of the bars/blades sits up a little higher than the other two. What have I got? 15A or 30A? And will I be able to find a plug for it or will the whole inlet thing have to be replaced?
